MAC Bare My Soul Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
MAC Bare My Soul Eye Shadow x 4 is one of two new, limited edition eyeshadow palettes releasing with the MAC Summer 2013 Collection. Finally MAC you’re doing it right! Your last few eyeshadow quads have been disappointed to say the least so I’m quite excited about your Summer offerings with colors that go well together and a formula that’s equally fabulous you have my attention!
MAC Bare My Soul Eyeshadow Quad ($44) includes four shades:
- Romantico (taupe-y bronze)
- Bare My Soul (brassy gold)
- Friendly (rich dark chocolate)
- When in Rio (deep teal green)
When in Rio, Rmantico, Bare My Soul, Friendly
MAC’s Summer Collection features a really great rubbery texture, matte bronze packaging this year and as much as I love it I just wanted to say that it attracts fingerprints like crazy. Especially this quad which has gross, powder-y finger marks all over it after I used it. Do pay a care when using it to avoid it getting as gross as NARS packaging does.
All the shades in this quad are exquisite to work with! I’ve used so many drier formulas lately from MAC it boggles my mind when I actually do get a workable quad from them. I’m happy to report all the shades have a smooth easy to apply formula that blends easily and provides excellent color pay off. The only shade I had minor issues with were When in Rio as it did run a little denser than the other shadows but still it was easy enough to use with a sponge applicator but not as blendable when using a brush during application.
I love that all the shades work together and can be incorporated into a single eye look or paired up in a duo look or even using a single shade. My biggest pet peeve is getting a mismatched quad of colors that I have no idea what to do with. These shades just work well together and there isn’t a ton of no how to get an excellent contrasting eye look!
I do think $44 is a little high when it comes to MAC. That’s quite a chunk of change for only four shades of shadow when you have brands offering a palette full of color for either around the same price tag or similiar.
None the less MAC finally got a winner! As I said lately I’ve been sore with MAC eyeshadow due to drier textures and a host of other issues but the Bare My Soul Eyeshadow Quad was a step in the right direction with a formula that was easy enough to apply, great pigment, and shades that will work well for Summer!
This one is worth checking out.
