Make Up For Ever 25L Matte Brown Aqua Eyes Liner Summer 2013

For Summer 2013 Make Up For Ever has introduced two new Aqua Eyes Eyeliner Pencils ($19) one of which is a new Matte Brown shade (25L). I think sometimes my Aqua Eyes Liner Collection rivals that of my Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner stash. Seriously, I have SO damn many.

And if you asked me a month ago whether I had a matte brown from Make Up For Ever or not I’d have probably said yes. But apparently, after checking through my stash, I don’t.

Who knew?

Make Up For Ever (25L) in Matte Brown is an espresso brown with a drier matte formula. This basically translates as it has no glossiness to it or shine. I personally like creamier shades that have that slight glint when you turn your head just the right way….it’s not a gloss but more of a sheen, know what I mean?

This sadly lacks that but on the upside, as with all Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Liner, it has a creamy texture that applies and smudges easily. If anything at all that matte finish makes it even easier to smudge around your eye for that smoky effect versus a glossier pencil which tends to slip around the eye too quickly to get the smudge down just right!

I personally love the formula on these liners and think they rival Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eyeliner (shhh don’t tell MUFE but they are not nearly as amazing as Pixi’s). It applies without tugging or pulling and pretty much wears for a solid ten hours on my drier eyes without smudging or fading away.

One hiccup I did experience was on my waterline I felt like it didn’t work as well. It didn’t seem creamy enough which left it a little lacking in intensity when I lined my waterline with it. Hmmm could be a fluke but it just seemed rather dry around this area and left little product behind as I lined.

Outside of that, it worked a treat on my upper lash line without a problem.

No offense to Make Up For Ever but I’m unsure how exciting a matte brown eyeliner is for Summer…but hey, they also have a very exciting emerald green launched for Summer as well and that’s far more fun than brown.

If you want to stalk it, it’s available now at Sephora and Sephora.com

P.S. By some miracle my best friend Jai and I have caught up on back episodes of Once Upon a Time (I think its been four weeks since either of us watched it). I’d just like to say this show has gone off the deep end.

I don’t even know what I’m watching anymore but I feel compelled to continue less I miss Ariel’s intro.

WTF?

That is all.

Oh but Hook’s still hot so at least there’s that.

I am still gobsmacked by the Pixi eyeliners – I would never have tried them if I hadn’t seen you rave about them, and now I have three of them, plus a back up for that gorgeous copper one, which is now apparently a part of the regular line up. Those pixi liners just rock! If I didn’t have at least a thousand others, I would use just those!!
I must be in the minority, but the UD ones just don’t wow me. They just dont’ last very well on me…..

yay kim! happy to hear you love ’em! that copper one is stunning and well worth the backup ;-D UD was great at one point for me but pixi def reigns supreme for me 😀

Kimkats, I totally agree with you about UD eyeliners, they smear everywhere and it looks like I have a black eye.

    I actually really want this.
I am always on the lookout for a very dark brown eyeliner, I dont like the way black eyeliner looks on me, so dark brown or very dark grey liners are my go to colors.
How would this compare to Demolition from UD? Which is darker?

Well, the problem with OUAT is that you simply CANNOT miss an episode. If you do, you’ll be hopelessly lost. In just 45 minutes, new characters can be introduced, new storylines branch out…and Voila! You’ll have NO idea what’s going on.

I’m very careful about which shows I begin to watch when the new programs are introduced each Fall, because so many of them require watching every. Single. Episode. There are only so many hours in a day, KWIM? So OUAT got me, but I had to forget about Grimm and Touch. Just can’t follow ALL of them!

OUAT is one of the few series that both my daughter and I watch together. That helps, because if one of us gets confused (OK, I’m old and sometimes I forget who a character is or why they’re significant to the plot), the other is there to fill in the details. That really helps.

Still love the program. The costumes and makeup are fabulous!

Personally, I’m hooked on Hook. The quintessential “bad boy” and is he ever GORGEOUS…

thankfully I haven’t….I record every week and just sit down and watch them when I can. I think the show is cute but they introduce SO many characters it gets overwhelming at times. Now they have a new series spin off for fall called Wonderland…oh boy…it’s just TOO much for me lol!

I’m with ya on ONCE UPON A TIME, Storybrook is turning into BIZARROLAND.

lol agreed the entire lacey plot really through me for a curve ball!

This looks like last years limited edition Gypsy liner. It sold out very quickly at Sephora so I’m glad it was added to the permanent line up.
