Maybelline Cool Crush Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline Cool Crush Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eye Shadow

Cool Crush is one of eight new limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadows that launched this Summer. From my understanding the shades will be ONLY available in the month of May but I found some of them before that time and I think you’ll probably find them around a little after that depending on stock in stores.

They are actually turning into shades you don’t absolutely need since they seem to be very difficult to apply in my experience.

Cool Crush is lovely shade but I had hiccups using it.

Take a peek!

Many of these new color have a duochrome effect however, Cool Crush actually applies as a solid shade. In the pot it reflects lighter blue with elements of purple and silver but for the most part in applies an icy cool blue that’s very similar to Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eyeshadow Stick in Iced Blue. It has a good deal of shimmer to it with a bit of a metallic almost frosty finish on my eyes. It actually almost looks silver in my swatches. The shade is best suited for a more cooler complexion than my own, I’d say blondes with bluer eyes would have more fun with the color….!

It does have a slippery texture with a streaky finish that applies patchy and uneven. I seem to have a bad case of repetitive disorder when it comes to these shades as I’ve been describing many of them the same. The original colors I loved but these newer Summer ones I’ve had issues with unfortunately. The dry down is very slow here so it does give you plenty of time to work but I find such a slow set results in creasing. In my case I got a wear time of around four hours before the shade creased a fair bit.

Cool Crush is worthy of a pick up as the color is a lovely lighter blue but the formula itself is disappointing in some cases. So far this and Lavish Lavender I’ve had the better success with.

I tried this shade, but returned it because it’s too similar to Blue Paradise. Somehow I prefer Blue Paradise to this one…

I also have Seashore Frosts and Icy Mint from the collection. Icy Mint is the only one that’s giving me trouble and can’t be worn by itself…

I don’t own this shade, but I have four others (Blue Paradise, Lavish Lavender, Shady Shores, and Seashore Frosts. Some work better than others FOR SURE. I don’t know why this collection is so hit and miss….Shady Shores is VERY slippery, uneven, and sheer. It barely builds up color on my lids. I couldn’t even use it as an effective base…but the other three are very nice, and mostly dense and pigmented. I get WONDERFUL wear out of Seashore Frosts and Blue Paradise. I even wore the latter to the beach (in Florida humidity!) and it held up perfectly.

    Hi Muse!
What blush and lippie are you wearing here?
    Thanks so much

I’ve noticed that most of the new special edition Color Tattoos have that problem. I had the same issue with Seashore Frost. The texture was really slippery and greasy, and it was a real booger to apply.

From the photo, it almost has a holographic look to it. It looks nice with your big brown eyes!

Very pretty on you! I guess I am lucky, I kinda like the slippery feel of this LE collection. It does take a bit to reach the color you want, but after patting it on and waiting and patting on some more, I have had great luck with these and they seem to last a long time on my lids.

Did I need all of the colors in this collection? no. But I am glad I grabbed them up!

It looks great on you , muse ! 😀

BTW , have you tried some Missha Frozen sticks ? My bought one for herself when she’s at Korea and sometimes I borrow it because the color she picked is so effing pretty ! Please try one 🙂 [If youre curious , thr shade my mom picked was Bubbly Peach , it was like a Champagny-Tangerine ? not good with colors .]

Cool Crush looks great on you Muse. Bought two earlier in the year, Fierce and Fiesty (orangy) and Inked in Pink (frosty pink/Metal). The Fierce looked very matte, was hard to apply, and ended up looking like yellow ochre or something, Yuk!! The Pink was gorgeous and applied like a dream. I’m moving on from these after the review of the summer colors being hard to apply as well. Too bad they can’t get them right. I love the little pots!!! 🙂
