Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara Review

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara Summer 2013

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara will be trickling into drugstores this June but I was lucky enough to try it out early. Don’t worry, it isn’t like June isn’t right around the corner. Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara had me hopeful because I didn’t really love the original Falsies formula and was hoping for more everything with Big Eyes.

Did it turn out into everything I hoped?

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara ($9.49) is a dual ended mascara which not only addresses top lashes but bottom ones as well. I have to admit I think that’s all kinds of cool. Every mascara I own should be dual ended and have two formulas that address top and bottom lashes. I can’t tell you how many times I wish for a lighter formula and a smaller applicator to do my bottom lashes with. Let’s face it some of the bigger wands that these mascara have and the thicker formula just aren’t meant for those shorter, delicate lashes that surround the bottom of your eyes.

The idea of having a mascara that addresses both top and bottom lashes is actually really a great idea.

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara

This isn’t a waterproof formula and it will be available in three shades in June. However, in July it will relaunch in a waterproof version in two shades.

I personally didn’t have issues with smudging or flaking on my drier eyes and liked how easily it washed away when it was time to remove. So if you have drier eyes you shouldn’t have any problems. I can’t speak for those with a more oily area as I couldn’t test it on such an area.

This has a twisted multidimensional brush which helps to push lashes up and out. I find I have to do a slow sweep with this as it does go a little clumpy for me if I am not careful. It doesn’t necessarily add curl or intense length but it does however, create excellent volume. My before and after photos don’t do it justice but I really like the way it fans lashes out yet fills them to a point that my lash line appears fuller. I do regret it doesn’t give me a ton of length but I am very happy with the volume it provides.

The bottom lash applicator is quite a good deal smaller than the top. The formula of the mascara also feels lighter so it won’t weight those smaller lashes down. I wouldn’t call the results dramatic but it does do a fairly good job adding some length to my shorter bottom lash line.

Overall, I do believe Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara sounds more promising than it really is. I mean throw around words like falsies in a mascara product and I expect really outstanding results. Although it gives my lashes a fuller appearance I think it lacked the length I craved…I was hoping for that false lash look but it didn’t quite hit the target. If you loved the original formula I have a funny feeling you’ll adore the Big Eyes one.

Maybelline The Falsies Big Eyes Mascara Before After

It launches this June in drugstores and follows with a waterproof version in July.

Will you indulge?

Holy crap! This is what I have been looking for in my life! Can’t wait to get it. I used to love an AVON mascara that was for bottom and top lashes as well- it was amazing.

Great review! I had tried the original falsies and was very disappointed. I am very picky with mascara though! What is your favorite mascara of the moment muse? Mine is le volume from chanel. It is amazing!

I actually really like the original the Falsies mascara, but I don’t really like putting mascara on my bottom lashes, so I’ll have to pass on this one! Thanks for the review!

I am always on the lookout for a new mascara, especially ones that give you volume as my lashes tend to be on the thin side.
Do you think you could mix this with a lengthening mascara so you can have the best of both worlds?

    • the Muse

sure kelly! I always layer different mascaras ;-D sometimes they work better when combined with something else 😀

I spotted this tonight at my local CVS. They had the waterproof formula as well as the regular formula.

I liked the original, it just tended to flake after a little while. I’ve been using my HG Rimmel Lash Accelerator again, but I may try this out.

It looks like you’ve barely applied any! Try 1 or 2 more coats, and I bet you’ll have more falsie-like results. = )

  • Simone

Ugh, I so don’t need this, and I couldn’t stand the original And the flared falsies, but I know I’ll be picking this one up. Insanity means doing the same thin over and over expecting different results.

    Sigh.

I liked the waterproof falsies one, since it game me incredible volume. However, it made my eyelashes fall out! Not just a few of them, but most if them. 🙁 I need at least one coat of waterproof mascara, since that’s the only way that my lashes will stay curled. They are pin straight, and no matter what I try (curling them several times, holding it in place for a while, using a warm eyelash curler, etc) they just straighten out within a few minutes.

I wasn’t overly impressed with the original or the Flared versions but The Falsies Black Drama is my HG mascara layered with a lengthening one so I’m very excited for this one! I love the look of mascara on my bottom lashes but sometimes I just skip it because I don’t feel like doing the delicate job with regular larger brushes so hopefully this solves that problem! Thank you so much for the review, Muse 😀

Just as a little FYI, Walmart where I am (Missouri) has both waterproof and washable versions of this right now instead of waiting till July for waterproof. I haven’t tried it yet, but I am hoping it works for my defiant stick straight lashes!

I have yet to find a mascara I really like all that much. I’ve tried a few Maybelline mascaras, including Falsies and Mega-Plush, but they’re both just way too wet for me! I end up making a giant mess. It doesn’t help that I’m not very talented at applying mascara, since I’ve never really worn it. Plus, my lashes are already really long, so too much extra length and they just end up bumping into my glasses all day! 😐
    Sigh.

I honestly loooove this product. My eyelashes are long already and the formula makes them look thicker and prettier. I have the regular kind in blackest black and i went swimming yesterday, NO RUNS!!! I was pleasantly surprised. I definifltely recommend this mascara. PS: The bottom lash brush works best for me with two coats.

You’ve got absolutely GAWJIS eyes without makeup as well. 😎

  • nikki

Big eyes sucks big ass. Maybe my lashes are different but man, its clumpy, creatsles no lift, and the only thing i like is the bottom lash option.

  • Lorena

Thanks for the review! It looks like another coat or two would’ve helped. I guess I do notice a bit of what I was looking for, which is the big eye look. My eyes are incredibly small and I’m just looking for something to make my eyes look enlarged, would you recommend this?

  • RG

I love the look, but it won’t come off. Not with eye makeup remover, or soap and water, or baby oil, or vaseline, or wipes. It comes off, but takes my lashes off with it. Is the plan to thin my lashes so I have to wear mascara? Not happy!

  • SL

I honestly feel like it’s your mascara technique that needs a little work. Have you tried different ways of doing it?
