Avon Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream Review

Avon Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream Summer 2013

The new Avon Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream promises me perfectly balanced skin in a gel formula. Hmmm….really? My skin is a little oily at the moment and a little dry so this combination type moisturizer seems a perfect switch up for Summer. First off, I really dig gel moisturizers in the Summer and secondly, I could use the extra moisture but also something to mattify the smaller oily areas around my face.

Perhaps this would be an excellent lightweight nightly gel moisturizer.

Take a peek!

I admit I found it a little bit bothersome that I have to switch up my entire skincare regime when the Summer sets in. My skin just reacts differently during different times of the year so I’m forced to change what is working perfectly great for me all Winter long for something a bit lighter. Grrr!

But…it isn’t so bad I guess because it’s a great time to try something new which is why I purchased Avon Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream. I generally like gel moisturizers! I’ve had great success with products like Etude House Flower, Garnier Gel Moisturizer, H20 Plus’s formula and many others…however, most of these are daily moisturizers. I can’t honestly say I’ve run across any night creams with a gel formula or at least not ones I’ve personally used myself.

Avon Elements Moisture Boost Night Gel Cream is formulated for nightly use containing Camellia Tea Leaf which promises to target oily and dry areas so skin stays balanced. Ironically they market it for sensitive skin types as well but I’d avoid it if you are sensitive. It has a very strong fresh aquatic scent that’s pleasant but will potentially prove irritating for those sensitive skin types.

This is a very thickly texture gel so it feels like it doesn’t quite absorb fully and it leaves my face feeling like it has some sort of thin film over it. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it would be uncomfortable if I was using it in the day but at night I’m not sure I really mind much. Unfortunately, although it does hydrate I feel like it makes my skin look very dull. In the AM after use my skin is extra lackluster and the drier, patchier areas of my face aren’t any softer or supple. I also feel like my skin produces more oil after using this.

It seems like an excellent solution for combination skin with the promise of a lightweight gel consistency but in the end I felt like it wasn’t doing very much at all. My skin wasn’t softer, my oily areas were still quite prominent, and the odd lacklustermess of my skin after use wasn’t very pleasant. My skin is dull enough already I def don’t need a moisturizer to add further to the issue.

This one I think you can safely skip!

Anyone try it?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

I purchased this item.

Good to know! Thanks so much for this review. I actually ordered the Origins GinZing moisturizer based on your recommendation. It hasn’t arrived in the mail yet, but I’m excited to try it! And glad to know I can skip this one. 🙂

Sadly, gel formulas do absolutely nothing for my dry skin, so this is a complete pass for me. Even in Summer, I need something rich & creamy.

don’t you find these “gel” moisturizers are always the same as asian sleeping masks or sleeping packs? They are so lightweight that they just disappear on the skin leaving it feeling tight and in need of a different moisturizer. If I use these types alone I wake up with a film of oil on my forehead and nose that my skin had to produce overnight because of the lack of moisture.
