Etude House Color Pop Dear My Lips Talk Lipstick Review & Swatches

Etude House Color Pop Dear My Lips Talk Summer 2013

I recently purchased a single shade of the Etude House Color Pop Dear My Lips Talk Lipstick in 0R221. These lipsticks were launched with the Etude House Color Pop Collection in a range of ten shades and I was smart enough to only purchase the one.

You see, when Etude House does a great lipstick that really DO a great lipstick. But when they do a rubbish one, well, they REALLY do a rubbish one. Having tried many of their lipsticks from a variety of collections I’ve learned my lesson NOT to order too many at one time. Try one and proceed to haul more if they are good is my chosen method of madness.

In the case of the new Etude House Color Pop Dear My Lips Talk I’m every so happy I only hauled one as I dislike the formula.

Take a look!

These come in a sterile white tube that features a tiny little ribbon along the bottom portion of the barrel. The packaging is actually very lightweight and flimsy. If I never used or even knew about Etude House I’d mistakenly thing this was meant for a child as it looks like a toy. But none the less I find it adorable!

Etude House’s Color Pop Collection is all about very loud, outrageous shades of color with a focus on strong tangerines and oranges. I’m always amazed that an Asian brand even go there as they tend to play it safer with shimmery shades and softer looks. Color Pop is more something I’d expect from MAC rather than Etude House. But Etude House is legendary for embracing orange around the Summer months and consecutively releases some sort of collection celebrating the shade in the Summer.

Last year I disliked the Miss Tangerine Lipsticks and honestly this year is no different with the Color Pop Lipsticks. This is sadly not a formula I personally embrace. These have a semi-matte creamy formula with absolutely no shimmer or sparkle. I find them a tad on the dry slide with a glide on lips that feels a little tuggy during application. They have INCREDIBLE pigment at this price (around $10 online) and I imagine they’ll gain their own little following. They wear time is excellent as well with the color staying true and intense for up to five hours and fading away at hour six slightly with a staining effect left at the final stage of wear.

Personally, I wish it was a more moisturizing formula something along the lines of what we seen with the Etude House Sweet Recipe Dear My Jelly Lips Talk Lipsticks.

OR221 swatches like a brighter red tomato however, it applies as more of an orange tangerine shade as seen below on lips.

I wouldn’t not recommend them…because they might just be something you enjoy if you’re ok with a very creamy, semi-matte formula. However, if you’re like me and want something a bit lighter with a more moisturizing or even glossy finish and some shimmer I’d say these aren’t for you!

I got mine from F2PLUS1 on E-bay (not affiliated with this seller).

Tried them?

I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts!

I purchased this item.

But I just bought 2 lipsticks on their Pink Talk range. :/ I hope they’re better. Thanks for the review muse! I almost hauled these Color Pop lipsticks when they had their sale. 🙂

let me know how the pink talk ones are alexis 😀 my pleasure…! I just don’t like creamy semi mattes like this you might love ’em if you like this finish chica!

I just received the pink talk lipsticks. I’ve tried PK013, it somewhat resembles the shade of Revlon Sweet Tart lip butter (which is my favorite shade), but darker 🙂 It’s matte, not as moisturizing as I want it to be, but bearable. It stains. After I ate lunch, the color can still be seen. I also bought PK015 but I haven’t tried it yet. 🙂

I bought PK015 from the pink range, and the pigmentation is pretty fantastic! It’s a lightweight, velvety matte, and I don’t find it too drying..

The way you describe it sounds like any of their Dear my lips-talk range (except for the jelly ones, of course), or at least that’s exactly how the Dear my blooming lips-talk feel to me, and I must say I like them very much! Except for the fact it dries my lips more than any other lipstick.

exactly…most of the dear my and vip girls lipsticks are all the same. I have the same issue, they suck the moisture right from my lips 🙁 I think I’d like them more if they just had a little more moisture.

Hi Muse, i bought 7 lipsticks of this limited edition and i think its impossible to wear this without a lipbalm under. Its really drier then my mate lipsticks. ahahaha
But i still love it because of the colors. Its an amazing orange collection! *-*

    TC!

hey Jess! agreed 🙁 le sigh. I suspected as much when they launched so I played it safe and only got one. But I agree the colors just POP!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-D

Waaaay too bright for me. Too bad the formula isn’t to your liking. The color is just lovely on you!

I have this exact color and I’m obsessed with it. Etude House is just amazing like that. I’m lucky to be able to live in Korea for a while.
