Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler Review & Swatches

Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler Summer 2013

Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler is an interesting lip treatment, lipgloss, tinted lip balm, lip exfoliater? Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out what it is at this point.

Korres totes this as a cooling lip treatment which actually buffs away dry skin while hydrating lips.

Take a look!

Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler

Ok, so I have to admit Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Lip Cooler is one of the oddest and unique lip products I’ve come across recently.

First of all this comes with a sponge tip applicator but that applicator has a built in rollerball. Is that like the most fabulous thing ever? The rollerball has a cool, refreshing feel on lips.

So here’s the deal….this is just an odd product and it has so much going on that in the end that’s what kills the deal. Sometimes TOO much is well, too much. And that’s the case with this product. It just wants to be too many things at one time and that kinda makes it disappointing in the end. If it succeeded at the many tasks it wanted to complete it would be a win but it takes on several different functions and never really succeeds at any of them.

First off it’s a tinted lip balm of sorts….the texture feels like a velvety liquid lip cream of sorts but it is clumpy so you need to go over it again and again with the applicator or a finger to get it to look smooth. It’s thinner and has a very, very subtle hint of tint. I purchased two shades and both were very sheer. I have to admit I find it silly they offer it in four shades, what’s the point when it’s so sheer? It does have a faint dandelion type taste?! It’s an odd flavor but it disappears quick enough.

Secondly, it’s a lip treatment of sorts or a balm-like product. Once on lips it feels not necessarily moisturizing but it feels like a balm of sorts. Lips do feel soft with it on but honestly, I have tons of products in my arsenal that offer more moisture.

Now the weird part…it has a grainy texture so as you apply it kinda sorta exfoliates your lips. This is where things get a little weird as if you aren’t careful those grains show up on your lips so if you’re wearing it as a lip balm/lip product, well, it looks strange. I find applying it with the applicator and smoothing my finger over my lips after gives it an even finish.

This supposedly is made with shea and cocoa seed butter, jojoba, soybean oils and greek yoghurt concentrate which is supposedly an excellent source of minerals and vitamins.

I think in the end I was just confused….

One trick ponies are boring yes but having a product that performs too many things at one time things can and will go wrong. In this case, I didn’t feel like the product made much sense. It would have been easier if they simply made it in a single shade and marketed it as a lip exfoliater. Creating tinted shades that you can’t really wear comfortably out of the house seems so odd to me….

In the end, I thought this was an ok way to get my drier lips soft and supple again. But you’re probably better off simply purchasing specific products to address your needs. A lip exfoliater to scrub flaky areas away and a lip balm is a better option!

So it’s basically a color scrub? That’s how it’s coming across is that you’re to use this product to buff you lips and it’ll leave a faint color behind. I don’t recall you posting a price on these but these look to be a pass for me. I like the rollerball idea but, as you put it, it’s too odd.

    • the Muse

basically lol…it’s so weird…why tint it?! they are $19 each

  • Kayla

I went to sephora last week and saw these, but after also searching them I was really disappointed. If I’m going to pay a higher price, I better get the pigmentation to go with it. The rollerball is the first I’ve seen in a lipgloss applicator 🙂

    • the Muse

kayla agreed…they kinda market them wrong in a way…the tint confuses people because in the end they are simply a lip scrub!

  • crotchfairy

Weirdly enough they remind me of a sextoy. I know the ball format’s similar to roll on perfume but odd. I have nothing to really contribute. I’m equally perplexed.

  • Cj

Yep I didn’t like it either, it’s the texture that got me. I’m thinking of trying to dump the product and fill it up with a gloss I actually like to be able to take advantage of the cool applicator lol

    • the Muse

great idea let me know if you succeed, I’m going to try that maybe use a nail scissor and wriggle off the stopper and see if I can dump something else inside it. If the applicator was standard side we could prob just screw it onto a different lipglass or something but it’s huge so no luck there :-/

lol! don’t hurt yourself. do you know how to handle power tools? do you need me?

          • Cj

Course i do! *chops off finger* umm…. Maybe u should handle the tools actually… *runs to find a bandaid*

          • the Muse

I feel so butch when I get to handle the tools in this relationship maybe you should do it….LOL ;-D

          • Cj

Nah huh just butcher than me, and that’s not very hard to do lol

          • the Muse

lol what am I going to do with you? we’ll get you a cute handy man he can give you manly lessons on using power tools safely lol!

          • kiwikiwidragon

I use needle nose pliers to remove reducers on glosses. No stabbing risk. Please don’t use cuticle scissors, I can just see you stabbing yourself. I remember reading about you hacking into the UD primer genie bottle! Yikes . I had my hubs break into my hot pink bb cream, I was convinced there was more inside. Come to find out, the outer pink part slides off like a sleeve and the housiing unscrews. I used a small brush and did get a use and a half on the tube, lol.

          • the Muse

lol! I’m a hot mess and you obviously know it 😀 oh…damn you’re taking it to new levels lol!

  • Barb

I like this as a lip conditioner… maybe even better than fresh sugar lip treatment. The exfoliating thingies disappear quickly on my lips… and the scent/flavour is faint honey to me(I haven’t tasted a dandelion hahaha)

The colours are VERY sheer. I like to use it under drier lipsticks or merely as a treatment.

The roller ball applicator doesn’t do much for me… does it even roll? I do; however, LOVE the packaging! Crotchfairy did peak my interest in her sex toys tho hahahaha 🙂 but I guess that’s a whole other blog!!

  • Icaria

Oh this is so disappointing! For some reason I was sure these where glosses and I wanted one just for the Greek inspired presentation. 🙁 Thank you for this review, I’ll keep my money for something else, I’m sure I’ll find something. 🙂

    • the Muse

my pleasure icaria sadly they are more of lip scrub type product not so much a gloss!

  • Tammie

How strange!! Good thing I didn’t end up getting it…hopefully some other brand with a better gloss will embrace the rollerball applicator thing so I can try it out.

  • melissa

happy sad happy sad lol happy about a rollerball thingy gloss applicator sad its not a real “gloss”. I’ll wait for a clearance sale on these i think.

  • Andi

Wait. So it’s the balm that is gritty? I thought I just ruined mine by using it after my Lush lip scrub without cleaning my mouth well enough!
