L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream Review & Swatches

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream

As I’m busy exploring CC Creams this Summer I was excited by L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream as it was easy enough to get in drugstores here in the US. It recently launched and I came across it for $10.49 at Harmons and I instantly snatched up both shades available.

I suspect it’ll be considerably higher priced at CVS, Walgreens, etc…so it sure is helpful that I’m here to tell you how BADLY the formula turned out.

Ugh! Do not buy!

L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream is available in two shades which are Light/Medium and Medium/Deep (Swatched left to right below). It contains a very sparse broad spectrum SPF 20 and promises to act as a multi-action cream to corrects color and tone.

L'Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream Swatches

It’s a white color that contains color capsules which burst as you blend. According to L’Oreal the CC Cream formula they developed will reduce the appearance of age and dark spots, even skin tone, brighten dullness, smooth skin texture while firming.

Does it do any of this?

NOT a single thing. Out of all those five multitasking benefits it does not perform a single one right. The best you can hopeful for here is moisture but do not buy it for color correcting purposes because it does not correct.

This has a very pretty fresh floral scent that will likely irritate those with sensitivities. It has a very lovely lightweight yet highly moisturizing formula that’s creamier in texture and has a dewy to the touch finish. The light version has absolutely no pigment once blended into skin and produces a rather glowing finish. Where as the darker version lends an orange-y cast that isn’t terribly pretty.

CC Creams are a step below BB Creams in terms of pigmentation. I did not expect L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream to offer any coverage however, I did expect it to brighten, even out skin tone, and create a more uniformed finish on my skin. It successfully failed at doing any of that aside from providing some pleasant moisture to my skin.

This one you can safely skip. It is not a formula you want to bother yourself with. I’d liken it to Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream which was beautifully textured but had absolutely no benefits outside of being a moisturizing facial cream.

Honestly, L’Oreal, you can do better than this.

Tried it?

Love to hear your thoughts!

You aren’t alone, I had the same reaction. No pigmentation and too much dewiness. Very disappointing. The new LORAC CC cream is pretty decent though. My all time fav will always be Tarte’ BB tinted tinted treatment 12 hr primer.

“Honestly, L’Oreal, you can do better than this.”

LOL!!!!! You sound like a stern school teacher!! Who’s scared of Professor McGonagall, when you’ve got the Muse shaming your lame ass CC cream behind?!

    • the Muse

lol but right? I mean they can DO way better than this come on!

  • JoElla

Umm.. is anyone that color of pink, besides Miss Piggy?

I am sad to hear this, I have really been impressed with L’Oreal lately.

  • Kristen

I am so happy I decided not to buy this today. It sounds horrible. Thanks for the heads up 🙂

Glad I read this! I won’t waste my money. Thanks, Muse! 🙂

  • Amanda

Thanks Muse…crossing it off the “maybe try this” list!!!

  • Courtney

Ugh, that looks awful! Glad you reviewed bc I might have been tempted to buy. Moving on….:)

  • Dee

Hmm. Do you think you could use the light one as a primer to layer under a drier BB cream? For example, I like Etude’s Sun BB and SecretKey’s snail BB but I find them very dry and thick on me.

    • the Muse

Up to you Dee but I wouldn’t buy a product that doesn’t work just to use it as a primer under a BB Cream. Just use your regular moisturizer to prep and whatever primer you typically use no reason to buy this to do those things. 🙂 thin out your BB Cream with a moisturizer if they are a little too thick.

I wish I had read this before I purchased it. I also purchased both shades and neither did anything for me. I hope I can return them today. I have previously used Smash Box CC cream and it was great. I was hoping to save some cash by buying the drug store version, but that did not work out to well for me.

    • the Muse

aw sorry katie! So long as you have your receipt you should be a ok to return! Good luck!

  • Claire

Absolutely godawful ! My face went bright orange !!!!!! I got the anti fatigue CC cream, hopefully I can return it. The blusher is lovely though. But the hue of the CC cream, so so awful.

Just bought this yesterday on the advice of the cosmetics clerk at Walgreens. First mistake – taking the advice of the cosmetics clerk. At least Walgreens will take it back. I’ve had it on my face for about two hours and I’m having a hard time resisting the urge to go wash my face.
Feels greasy, fragrance is bothering me and my right eye is watering.

I agree with everyone else. Not a good buy at any price!

  • Sommer

I just bought this…. I bought the light version. It is light weight and gives my skin a fresh glow. I do not need it for coverage. I did not notice the greasy feeling at all. I thought it was a good buy and I’m extremely picky. Maybe it’s different skin types and colors?

  • Jo Ellen

I actually found this page in an attempt to find out what I was doing wrong with this product. Now I know it’s not just me. Your are right, L’Oreal can do much better than this.

  • Steph

Ugh, a beauty advisor at Walgreens convinced me to get this when they were out of the concealer I wanted. It just makes my face look greasy, no coverage or color correction at all.

  • Alexis

Just like Jo Ellen above, I’m looking here to find out if there was something I did wrong; I’m just not seeing ANY benefit to this L’Oreal Visible Lift CC Cream – much more a “multi-action” correction of “color & tone”. I have the Light/Medium product and honestly, it’s a pinky-white that pretty much disappears into a sheer finish with no discernible coverage or “correction”. As for the claim “Firms Skin”, I don’t see or feel it but didn’t purchase it for that anyway. Bad purchase on my part.

  • Michelle

Wish I would’ve seen this column before I bought this crap! I’m headed to Walgreens to pitch a hissy and attempt to get my money back! That is, right after I go over to the Loreal website and leave a scathing pissed off review!

  • Melissa

I was staring at the L’oreal wall at Walgeens yesterday due to a buy one get one half off sale. I almost bought the CC face cream but instead tried the CC under eye concealer and I love it! I tend to wake up with puffy eyes and my skin under my eyes is lighter then the rest of my face so I needed a concealer. It is supposed to also correct dark circles which I don’t really have.

I didn’t think the shades in the CC face cream would match my skin tone and after reading this, I’m so glad I didn’t waste my money on it. Thanks!!

I have the light/medium CC cream by L’Oreal, and all I can say is either my tube is defective or this stuff doesn’t have a single bit of pigment in it… it comes out of the tube white, it goes on white, and then pretty much ends up “clear”… it was suggested I use it as a replacement for my usual foundation, but when I use foundation I like it to have a little color to it and my usual foundation does! This is nothing like a foundation, and I can’t imagine what L’Oreal is thinking! The only good thing I can about it is that since I’ve been using it, the age spots on my hands have nearly disappeared… I believe it’s because after I applied the CC cream to my face, I’d then go and put on hand lotion and apparently what was left on my hands of the CC cream was getting applied along with the hand lotion and honestly, in this particular case, it’s living up to its claim to correct color problems… I’m going to use the rest of the product on my arms now, because I have some age spots there from too many years of unprotected sun exposure… I hope my theory is right and the CC cream will fade the age spots on my arms… that alone will keep my buying more, but it won’t be for it’s coverage, or lack thereof, on my face.
