Take a look!
Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge ($24) left a lasting impression on me when it was introduced earlier Fall 2012 and continues to impress me with these new Summer shades.
These are a long wear liquid cream lipstick with a smudge-proof, no transfer formula that sets for ALL damn day wear. I typically dislike long wearing lipstick as I feel like they get messy as the day progresses, dry my lips out, and begin to look cracked and flaky as the wear progresses. Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge is possibly the only long wearing lipstick I promote as brilliant.
16 Fuschia, 17 Bright Orange, 18 Coral, 19 Pomegranate Pink, and 20 Baby Pink
Housed in a double ended tube this contains liquid lip color on one end and a transparent gloss on the other. You can apply the liquid lipstick first and follow up with the gloss for a shiny, glossy finish. I do think the gloss is essential to the lipstick looking great. The gloss seems to smooth out the texture and creates a more even finish. Alone the color seems to look a little bit patchy and uneven so the gloss definitely aids in creating a more perfect finish.
Now it doesn’t budge so be prepared to commit to the shade for your entire day. It’s virtually bulletproof. The only thing that fades would be the gloss but the actual lipstick remains for a good twelve hours even if you’re eating and drinking. To remove it you’ll need some sort of oil based eye and lip remover. Initially during application the satiny matte finish looks a little patchy until gloss is applied but after the gloss is gone the color actually looks fairly even and smooth. I just feel like the gloss makes things look a little smoother. Touching up the gloss is key to the lipstick looking its best as the day progresses. The clear gloss is the a thin texture with a highly glossy shine. It doesn’t set the product for longer wear merely adds a glass-like finish.
Color doesn’t ever look dry even after the gloss has worn away. It has a fresh, smoother appearance which intensity that doesn’t fade with wear. To say these are pigmented is an understatement as they do pack incredible color. Although intense I didn’t have any problems with migration, color stays exactly where I put it and does so for hours on end!
19 Pomegranate Pink Aqua Rouge
16 Fuschia
17 Bright Orange
18 Coral
20 Baby Pink
Honestly, these are an excellent way to wear your lipstick from sun up until sun down with very, very little maintenance during the wear (just slick on some clear gloss when it wears away and you’re golden).
They still remain a fond favorite and these new Summer shades are simply stunning!
