Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme Review & Swatches

Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme

I recently reviewed the Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Eye Creme for you which I ordered along with the Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme.

Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme ($36) promises to brighten, protect with an SPF 30, while perfecting skin in one simple step.

Did it?

Take a look!

Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Cream

I think the idea of a CC Cream did get lost in translation here in the US. Where as Asian brands are producing CC Creams with more color correcting benefits and a sheerer formula, the US has actually embraced a beefier formula for their CC Creams.

It’s as if the US decided the first generation BB Creams were a tad too sheer so they decided to add more pigment and benefits to their CC Cream formulation. I’m not sure how I feel about that but I will say that BB Creams should have the most pigment where as a CC Creams should offer sheer coverage with more color correcting benefits.

Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme is actually more of a BB Cream versus a CC Cream.

This comes in a pump style bottle and is available in a Light and Medium shade selection. I choose Medium because I was worried Light would be too pale. Medium does run rather deep and has an orange undertone so I do urge you to swatch in store and not purchase online as I did.

This is a very rich, creamy texture and provides fairly nice moisture on skin with a dewy finish that isn’t greasy or oily. I love the texture and I think most skin types will as well. It absorbs easily, melds to a skin-like finish, and has a nourishing, supple finish that makes skin feel and look softer. There’s enough pigment here that the product can be worn sheer or built up to cover heavier issues like redness, darkness, minor acne or scarring, etc…it’s not a medium coverage BB Cream but it is fairly close to one when built up. The wear time will vary but on my own skin it lasts five hours before showing fading into hour six.

Unfortunately, I didn’t like it because it made my skin look lackluster. I blame this on the shade. I’m hopeful the light shade will indeed be light (and not orange-y and too tan as Medium is) as that might be a better fit for my skin tone. If the shades all run dark I might not be so inclined to use it as it fails as brightening up my skin at the moment and just leaves it in a bad light.

It supposedly contains five sources if vitamin C as well as a blend of ceremides and ingredients that help to reduce discolorations as well as treat finer lines by plumping and firming skin. I can’t say if this is working or not. I’ve used it nearly three weeks and don’t see a difference in regards to a brighter complexion or easing of minor dark spots I have. As for fine lines I don’t yet have them on my face.

The SPF 30 is rather minimum and I don’t feel it’ll protect me a full day but that’s about the extent of what many of these BB Creams launched here in the US includes.

Overall, Ole Henriksen Perfect Truth CC Creme has a beautiful texture and a formula packed with fairly great ingredients plus packaging to keep them stable. On the down side the color selection might not be fitting for most unfortunately.

It’s available now at Sephora and Sephora.com

I just sampled this last night at Sephora. I’m usually more of a buy first, try later kind of gal, but I swatches the light shade and worried that perhaps it was a tad too dark for me. I’m going to tey it through the end of the week and see. I was really hoping to love this, as I’m a devotee of Ole’s skincare…the only stuff that my sensitive skin really likes. So far, the CC creams in the US market have all felt more like BB’s to me. The BB’s here are just basically tinted moisturuzers…I was so disappointed when they started flooding the market because I had been hoping they would be more akin to my favorite Korean brands…ah, well. We’re the US…always backwards, still not on the metric system…
