Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer Review & Swatches

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer Fall 2013

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Eyeshadow Primer $4.99

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer recently launched for Fall 2013 with the new Exaggerate Collection. I don’t think Rimmel has done an eyeshadow primer before or have they? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I was interested in trying out Undercover Shadow Primer and seeing what they came up with!

Take a peek!

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer

Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer has gotten a few poorer reviews from what I’ve read thus far on forums. I’m hearing stories of a tacky finish, creasing, etc…

I’d liken the look of it to NARS Eyeshadow Primer a little but the slippery texture reminds me more of Too Faced Shadow Insurance without the separation issue. Out of the tube it looks a little like cottage cheese, it’s kinda lumpy and gritty.

The white shade has a little bit of an iridescent finish on lids but only if you’re staring really hard at it. According to their marketing this intensifies the look of shadow as it prevents them from creasing. It applies easily with the sponge applicator and blends out to a soft, satiny finish. It has a bit of a silcone-y, slippery texture which eases as you blend but I did not get the tackiness I’m hearing about.

I used it all week in both cooler and warmer weather and it didn’t perform great. I wouldn’t say it really intensifies the look of my shadows. If you want more vibrant eyeshadow I’d recommend a cream eyeshadow as a primer really won’t do the trick. It seemed like it blended to a fairly good finish and set the canvas for something that my shadow could adhere to. Unfortunately my shadow was applied at 6AM and around 12:30PM I was seeing creasing issues. That’s a fair amount of time without creasing BUT many of my eyeshadow primers will get me through an entire day from sun up to sun down or until I take off my eyeshadow without nary a crease.

Unfortunately, Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer exaggerates its claims. This shadow primer definitely doesn’t do the trick at keeping my eyeshadow locked on.

Skip it!

Muse to the rescue again – thanks for saving me five bucks! I definitely would’ve tried this at some point without your review. Now I don’t have to – thank you! 🙂

As soon as you said it looks like cottage cheese, I was all… :/

I tried this and it was horrible, horrible!! I had such high hopes for it but it felt like greasy and gross going on and didn’t hold my eyeshadow in place for more than about two hours. Anyone looking for a DS primer could do worse than Catrice eye primer. It comes in a pot which is fiddly but it’s cheap as chips and really really works.

The *only* reason I wear primer is to make colors more vibrant, but since this can’t achieve that, I’ll just stick with Kat von D’s primer, which is HG. For something more wallet-friendly, Essence eyeshadow base is pretty good for that, too (but I can’t say whether or not it helps with creasing, since I’ve never had that issue).

it’s a skip for me too, I had issues in two hours. horrible ._.

“my shadow was implied” that’s the best line I’ve read this week ^^

Meh. Too bad. I saw the “teaser” in my email and was excited Rimmel had released a primer. I’ll skip it unless it’s super-cheap and I’m out of primer.

Girl, YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE MONEY!!!! Wish I would have visited your blog and saved myself the 7 dollars…and spend it in something more worthy like a lipstick! I used this primer and here in South Texas were its so humid and hot (as in 110 degrees hot). Within an our my eyeshadow creased BADLY!!!! I was shocked!!! “Unfortunately, Rimmel Exaggerate Undercover Shadow Primer exaggerates its claims.” Indeed Girl, indeed!!!!

This was a total fail!!!! I think regular concealer would have worked just the same… If not better!
