Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray Review
Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray ($33) was just recently launched as part of an early preview of the Urban Decay Fall 2013 Collection. I told you about it earlier this week and have been testing it out all this week to see what I think.
Urban Decay has introduced makeup setting sprays in the past but the B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray is actually the first prep spray the brand has done. Being a rather fond fan of facial mists I was curious about this formula but unfortunately it addresses issues I don’t really have a problem with such as redness, larger pores, and oil.
Let’s take a look!
Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray is formulated to be used prior to your skincare as a prepping mist or you can use it throughout the day if you like. Personally it is probably best suited to AM or PM use prior to applying any other skincare. Sprtiz it on, allow it to set, and follow up with other products you typically use in your skincare regime.
The formula contains what Urban Decay dubs the first stabilized form of Vitamin B6. B6 is excellent for stressed out skin as it delivers better levels of oxygen to your skin which helps to reduce stress damage and prevents skin from producing oil which causes less breakout issues. There’s also Vitamin E in this and willow bark (natural form of salicylic acid). Unfortunately many of these ingredients aren’t really for my blemish-free, drier skin. The formula seems to address a more sensitive, oil-prone easy to break out skin type.
It’s difficult to review something like this when it isn’t quite for my skin type so I’ll give you the basics of what I experienced using it.
It has a fresh green scent that’s very pleasant. Once misted on it left my skin a tad tacky to the touch but not really hydrated. The tackiness disappears after several minutes and my skin felt a little tighter at the set. It does feel like it tingles slightly when I mist it on like I spritz something on my face that contained mint. One thing I do think deserves an important mention is you need to be sure to close your eyes very tightly when misting this on and also hold the bottle at least 8 or 10 inches away from your face. I suggest closing your eyes tight because it does cause a burning sensation even if you get a small amount in your eyes. This isn’t a fine mist so holding the bottle away from your face you’ll find that the mist is finer when applying plus you’re less likely to get much in your eyes this way.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a ton to say outside of this about the spray. It didn’t really do much for me as I have drier, duller skin that’s not inclined to break out and my pores are not visible. I will say I thought the tingling/burning in my eyes was a bit unpleasant which made me dislike the product.
This might be worth trying for those with larger pores and stressed skin that is prone to breakouts, redness, or has certain sensitivities. I wish I could tell you if it works on such a skin type but I only tested on myself and none of these issues are my own.
