Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara Review

Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara

At some point in my life I plan to take over the world so perhaps a little Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara can speed that process along. I figure if I dominate the lash world the rest of the universe can’t be too far behind.

Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara is a new promising mascara that promises volume, length, thickness, lifting, all day wear, smudge-free, clump-free, and flake-free wear.

There’s a lot that goes into dominating the lash world obviously because it also lifts lashes, separates, and creates overall badassness.

Did it work for me?

Naaa…maybe for some else’s lashes but unforutnately Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara apparently has two steep a learning curve for this Muse.

Created with a spiraled 180 degree all around curved blush this is supposed to coat lashes at ALL angles and loads lashes up with a rich, thick pigmented mascara. The brush was designed to to grab and define every single lash even those pesky corner ones. The bristles also act to lift as they sculpt, lengthen, and separate for a fuller lash look.

Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara Fall 2013

In theory and visually the brush looks incredible and awe aspiring. It’s just not working out for me though. I’ve tried stroking it through my lashes, I’ve tried “the wriggle”, and I’ve tried twisting the wand as I apply to see if this aided in application but I keep getting the same rather poor results.

You definitely get a good deal of volume here for but the formula is very thick and clumps up my lashes creating a mess. I feel like I have little control over where the mascara is headed and I end up with a spider-y mess of lashes. Working slowly you’ll get fairly good volume but my lashes lack any real length after use. I think the brush contributes to the problem of the thicker formula as you feel like you have no management over it as you apply and it just gloops mascara all over the place creating messy smears in the process. Which brings me to smearing…I have drier eyes and rarely, very rarely have issues with mascara that smears but this somehow has a knack for running everywhere as the day progresses in both cooler and warmer weather so by the end of the day I’m looking like a raccoon. Strangely enough it’ll smear like the dickens but causes issues removing it. I have to dose a cotton pad in oil based remover and hold it to my eyes for several moments before swiping it away and even than I have mascara on my lashes.

Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara

Hmmm!

I guess my plan for lash domination didn’t work out in the end. I’ll have to search for the next great mascara to aid me in my plot to take over the world because Bare Minerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara isn’t going to cut it.

Tried it and hated it. Clumpy and messy. Right now, I’m liking Avons Extend. Good daytime look. Gives length to my lashes with no clumps.

I received a sample of this mascara when they were doing the promotion in the store. For the first one or two days it came on nice, the brush worked like a lash comb to separate, etc. But then the applicator came out of the tube with the mascara all over it like one big gobby mess, and I couldn’t work with it again. I still prefer Benefit’s They’re Real mascara.

I bought it and have been using it. I find it to be average. I don’t know if I would buy another as I am trying the new one from Tarte and Too Faced

Thanks for the review! I’ve had this on my Sephora list to look at, but I’m oily and prone to smudging, so I’m now skeptical.

I tried a sample of it just the other day. I thought it was okay. Nothing spectacular. I was in a bit of a rush to get out the door when I put it on and luckily didn’t experience the clumping, but later, I definitely noticed the smearing. All I did was lightly brush my finger against my lashes and it was all over the tip of my finger. It just didn’t seem to want to dry.

Great review! I appreciate how you described wear and removal. I HATE when mascaras smear/run and yet to get them off you need something industrial. LOL. What is up with that?

Today is “tell an old joke day”: it’s early so…

What to you call a boomerang that doesn’t come back? A stick.

Ok, have a fun day! 😘

I got a sample of this about a month ago from Nordstroms at the BE counter. It’s an OK mascara. I don’t think I would buy it just because it wasn’t anything special. I didn’t have the clumping issue but it tends to smudge on my oily skin. My personal favorite mascaras are Benefit BadGal and Tarte Lights Camera Lashes. They both give me good volume and don’t smudge all over the place.

  • Jessica

well this is disappointing because i love the flawless definition mascara. guess i’ll stick with that one!

I got a sample in the Bare Minerals store a few weeks ago and tried it out. I definitely didn’t like it. As you found, it was clumpy and kind of hard to apply. I already have thick lashes, so when I use a clumpy mascara, it’s looks TERRIBLE. I have the bare Minerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara and I love it and use it daily! I don’t know what went wrong with this one… maybe its the brush. The FDVM one has a really full, fluffy brush that works very well for me.

Received a sample, wearing it for the first time today. Worked okay on my top lashes, but was clumpy on my bottom lashes. Took more effort than I want to put in.,

I tried this also. It’s just ok. I didn’t have alot of clumping but when I hear that a product has so many functions I get very suspicious. Honestly I think the brush is ridiculous. It’s hella big and very difficult to work with. I sometimes like to coat my lower lashes and that’s out the window with this wand. Also my eyes are kind of small and close together so I tend to get some mascara on the inner corners of my eyes with this one. I think for now I’ll just stick with my Clump Buster mascara.

I got this free from work…def not my fav. It’s meh…results (I honestly prefer Jordana or essence to all the higher end mascaras). I love a clumpy mascara but I found the exact opposite, def not clumpy on me with 30 coats (girl loves her volume!) I think this is excellent for the older people 50 and above. I didn’t see see any racoonness, even when sweating like a little oink…unless I used the NYX gel shadows, which leaves the lids and crease moist. Definitely, if trying something new out for fall, Two Faced Better Than Sex has way more volume and length.

Another bad review from me as well. Just wore it today for the first time, got a sample in my Sephora order. It’s nothing special. The wand did no better than any of the other rubber brushes I’ve used. I tried applying it just like you muse; the wiggling, spinning, whatever. It didn’t create much volume for me. CG Lash Blast is a million times better and way cheaper. Oh and it smudged on me too but every Bare Minerals mascara I’ve tried smudges on me. Something about their formula doesn’t work on my skin.

I have caved to many advertisements over the years that promise “fuller, thicker lashes”. Usually try them one time and either give it away or throw it away. I have fairly long lashes but I like to see them when I look in the mirror. For me, the combination of Loreal’s volumizing mascara and Ready to Wear Lash Extension are the ticket! The mascara adds volume while the lash extension when brushed on definitely adds length and more volume. The more you apply the longer & thicker your lashes appear. I usually do 2 coats of both and I’m good for the whole day. Both come off easily with soap and water or eye makeup remover. I don’t have a lot of time to spend on my morning routine but this works.

Have u tried the brand ZA? they have really good mascara especially the killer volume mascara. It’s give my lashes volume, length and doesn’t clump! it’s one of the few mascaras that I can use without a lash comb to comb through to separate lashes. It really exceeds expensive branded mascaras with it’s affordable price!

    • the Muse

i haven’t xiang thanks for the recommendation maybe give it a whirl at some point!

I got a sample in one of my beauty box subscriptions and I loved it but then I bought the full size and it was nothing like the sample it was clumpy and flaky. Total disappointment it was like it was a completely different mascara.
