Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
The Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette ($59) launches recently with the Chanel Collection Superstition for Fall 2013. This palette is available for a limited time and makes khaki a focal point for the them of the quad. Golden khaki mixes with a light gold, taupe, and true khaki shade to create sultry fall eyes.

This is an excellent range of color for those who like more sultry shades of taupe and khaki. I love khaki because it pairs up so well with my big brown eyes however, Chanel takes khaki and pairs it up with subtle touches of taupe to give eyes a seductive edge. The formula and texture of these shades run a little drier with a more powdery texture that kicks up a fair bit of powder when I swirl a brush in it. The shades apply quite sheer outside of the more darker olive khaki shade which is the most pigmented in the quad. It’s a little difficult getting any real contrast from shades like this as they are all running together and going muddy against each other so time and patience is required to create the best eye look.
I actually like the colors in theory but just not in application. For near $60 you shouldn’t have to deal with muddy blending issues because the colors are too similar to get any real contrast.
I can’t help but love on the darker khaki shade here but unfortunately as an all over shade this proves a little difficult to use so accenting with it is best.
Overall, the Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette is stunning but comes with a healthy dose of application issues that might prove a deal breaker. Typically green shade palettes get a rave from me but Mystere proved a little challenging and dare I say irritating to use…le sigh! Really had high hopes for this one. Oh well!
