Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette Fall 2013

The Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette ($59) launches recently with the Chanel Collection Superstition for Fall 2013. This palette is available for a limited time and makes khaki a focal point for the them of the quad. Golden khaki mixes with a light gold, taupe, and true khaki shade to create sultry fall eyes.

Take a peek below for more details.

This is an excellent range of color for those who like more sultry shades of taupe and khaki. I love khaki because it pairs up so well with my big brown eyes however, Chanel takes khaki and pairs it up with subtle touches of taupe to give eyes a seductive edge. The formula and texture of these shades run a little drier with a more powdery texture that kicks up a fair bit of powder when I swirl a brush in it. The shades apply quite sheer outside of the more darker olive khaki shade which is the most pigmented in the quad. It’s a little difficult getting any real contrast from shades like this as they are all running together and going muddy against each other so time and patience is required to create the best eye look.

I actually like the colors in theory but just not in application. For near $60 you shouldn’t have to deal with muddy blending issues because the colors are too similar to get any real contrast.

I can’t help but love on the darker khaki shade here but unfortunately as an all over shade this proves a little difficult to use so accenting with it is best.

Overall, the Chanel Mystere Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Palette is stunning but comes with a healthy dose of application issues that might prove a deal breaker. Typically green shade palettes get a rave from me but Mystere proved a little challenging and dare I say irritating to use…le sigh! Really had high hopes for this one. Oh well!

Not sure about the eye shadow, but that lipstick is DA BOMB on you!

You always look so good with a red lip! I was considering getting the palette in august but I think i’ll pass thanks to your review 🙂 I don’t think it is worth getting for 60$.

really like it but the price, i don’t know if i could ever pay that much for it, i hope to own something from chanel someday..but i am one poor woman !! i really love the dark shade with the sparkles, love them all though

I felt like the colors were too powdery to effectively create a nice eye look. I feel like they are kind of sheer, too, which might be because they’re powdery. I ended up returning mine. I do, however, love Gri-Gri! I highly recommend that if you’re into mushroomy-taupe colors with lovely shimmer!

gosh, the colours look so gorgeous! I have been waiting for this to launch in Malaysia (official launch date is tomorrow! *yay*). But it seems to be a reoccurring problem with chanel eyeshadows.

I have the rose envolee palette, was never a pink person but i loved the colour so much that i bought it. Only to find myself greatly disappointed with the fallouts, the sheerness and the blending problem :/ The pinks looked like silver from far. The royal purple didn’t show up as well too.

But i do want this palette very bad! I can’t resist the dark khaki colour!

Ugggh. That totally sucks! I saw the first image and I was like “OHHH! Who’s going shopping today!!” ….And then I read the post. Thanks for saving me $60! 😉

That palette looks amazing! I am so happy that Chanel has really upped their pigmentation in their palettes! For so long they were the total disappointment to every collection they did…and now it seems that perhaps we might be having a few stars of the collections being made <3

p.s. I'm new…so please forgive my curiosity. But I noticied that in every picture you wear the same headband, just in a different color. Is this just a personal preference? Are you growing your hair out? If its totally personal and you don't discuss it than I understand, and I apologize in advance for asking. My curiosity gets the better of me sometimes!

I bought this quad but I returned it bcause the colors {I didn’t see any green!} were all muddy and it as hard to tell what color I was wearing. VERY disappointed as i usually LOVE Chanel quads.
