L'Oreal Evercurl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner

Hey Wen fans, anyone see the new L’Oreal Evercurl Hydrachange Cleansing Conditioner ($6.99)? Yup, that’s right a new cleansing conditioner available right at your drugstore.

I adore Wen so when I noticed L’Oreal was doing a similar style product I decided to give it a whirl

L'Oreal Evercurl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner 4

L’Oreal EverCurl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner is a new gentle way to cleanse and condition curls in a single step. Considering Cleansing Conditioners aren’t really the norm at the drugstore I found this pretty intriguing.

According to L’Oreal it’s a low lathering creme cleanser which helps reduce frizz, restore moisture, and make hair more manageable with hydrating botanicals. It has a light unisex fragrance that’s quite pleasant and reminds me a little of coconut and a little of sandalwood. The texture is quite creamy but not nearly as thick as Wen’s Cleansing Conditioner. It actually feels lighter in my hair than Wen’s version. L’Oreal suggests 8 pumps or more for longer, thicker hair. I have super long, drier hair with tons of waves and curls so this was an ideal solution for me. It washes clean away and I didn’t experience the lather they speak of, it pretty much works in the same fashion as Wen as you simply work it through your hair and rinse it out. It’s suppose to act as both a shampoo and conditioner in one. My hair felt fairly clean after rinsing (it rinses out very easily!) plus it was soft and definitely had fewer tangles. After nearly two weeks of use I don’t feel like it caused any major build up either.

It’s sulfate-free, contains no parabens, and according to L’Oreal it is 100% Vegan with no heavy waxes or harsh salts.

I gotta say I LIKE it. A lot! If you have longer wavy, curl, drier, or frizz prone hair I’d recommend checking it out.

Good, no sulfates. I think I’ll try this when I use up the shampoo I have.

  • Caroline

I might give this a try, since their other cleansing conditioner and Wen has ingredients I’m allergic to. My hair is super straight, though.

  • Regina

I have dry, curly hair as well and I like this product too 🙂

  • StellaDiva

Have you tried their Evercreme cleansing conditioner which launched last fall? I loved the scent but it dried out my hair.

    • the Muse

i actually just purchased it stella and I’m using it this week so a review is sure to follow 🙂

  • Sara

One product instead of using both shampoo and conditioner? Hmm…this sounds interesting. I haven’t stepped out of my “comfort zone” in shampoos and conditioners lately, might have to now. Thanks for posting about this!

Hey Muse. Do you know how this compares to DevaCurl? I like the price of this better.

      • Hollie H

I have been using this for a few weeks now. I really like how it’s refined my curls and I am obsessed with the scent. It’s the same as their Mythic Oil, another fav.

  • Jane

For somebody with coarse dry hair like me, do you think I’d need a conditioner after rinsing this away? This sounds ideal for stuff like travel or quickie showers!

    • the Muse

not sure jane you’d have to try it for yourself to see…I have drier, longer, very wavy hair that tangles/knots easily and I didn’t need an extra conditioner after.

      • TwirlyGirly

Miss Muse…..When you say your hair is “waxy,” do you mean oily? Confuzzed!

          • TwirlyGirly

LOL! “Waxy” would be a serious issue, I imagine!

          • the Muse

indeed! sorry my hands type faster than my mind thinks sometimes! plus I’m typically multitasking two dozen things so mistakes are all over the place ;-D

Oooooh. I’m a Wen lover too. I recently tried Carol’s Daughter Co-Wash and it’s not bad. May check this one out next time I’m out and about. Have you seen what the Wen TSV is for September? Amazeballs!

    • the Muse

I haven’t tried the cowash! I want to check that out. I haven’t…really? tell me more ;D

  • Kitten

Yay, super excited! Been looking for a ‘cheaper’ cleansing shampoo, this sounds wonderful! 😀

  • stef b

I tried the evercreme one but didn’t like the smell. does this one smell like amber too??

    • the Muse

I don’t get amber kinda creamy coconut little hint of sandalwood.

  • Cas

Omgosh I’m going to be all over this! Although I don’t know if it’ll help my curls… Lol! My hairs so long it doesn’t even curl anymore. But, as always, thank you for reviewing! I can’t wait.

  • Pam

With 8 pumps per use, how many shampoo’s do you think you would get out of one bottle? Like Wen, it sounds like you use a lot of product unless the pump’s volume is small.

    • the Muse

I just started using it about two weeks ago? so far still have tons left so I’m thinking maybe a month?

      • Pam

Oh that’s not too bad, do you think it would be too heavy for fine hair?

        • the Muse

it might be pam not really sure i don’t have experience with finer hair tbh! mine is thick and crazy
