MAC Calypso Beat Creamsheen Glass Review & Swatches

MAC Creamsheen Glass Calypso Beat

The MAC Tropical Taboo Collection includes four, limited edition shades of Creamsheen Glass in limited edition shades that are both new and repromoted colors.

I only actually tried one which was Calypso Beat. I’m always on the fence about the Creamsheen Glass formula. Sometimes I adore it and other times when I run across shades like Calypso Beat I’m kinda meh about it.

Let’s take a look!

MAC Calypso Beat Creamsheen Glass ($20) is one of those rather milky, creamy consistency shades that isn’t very flattering on me personally. I think the shade and the formulation would be more suitable for fairer skin with less pigmented lips than my own. These aren’t terribly thick and have a more creamier consistency than a MAC Lipglass and also lack the stickiness of one but have the same vanilla scent and flavor.

MAC totes this as a pale neutral peach and that’s about right although it does come across very beige with silvery shimmer. It’s actually really a pretty shade but just a shade suitable for my own tone. It’s light, milky, and comes across as an evil dead girl-like beige peach on my lips. It’s a little patchy during application and looks drier on my lips but will indeed make a fairly lovely natural lip look on a different skin tone than my own.

MAC Calypso Beat Creamsheen Glass Swatches

It does seem to have a shorter wear for me as it only runs about an hour before fading away and migrating a bit to the corners of my mouth, eep not a pretty look!

I wouldn’t completely sway you against a purchase as I just think the shade isn’t for me personally. This one might deserve a trip to the counter for a swatch and a play as it just might a color you fall for.

For me, total skip!

Anyone purchase it?

I’ve never tried a M.A.C. lip gloss. I’m afraid I will become addict just like I am to their lipsticks. $20 is a bit steep for a lip gloss.
