MAC GreenLuxe Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palette

MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow Palettes ($40) are a new creation from the brand that recently launched for Summer 2013. These shadow palettes contain five strips of eyeshadow color in graduating shades of color.

I was deeply impressed with all four of the palettes I tried and would liken them to Japanese Eyeshadow in terms of texture. If you’re a fond fan of Japanese brands like KATE or Majolica Majorca I’m positive you’re going to adore these.

Take a look!

These are a little different and unique for MAC as they’ve never done a strip eyeshadow palette like this. They quite remind me of the Milani Runway Eyeshadow Palettes although these aren’t as raised and have less of a baked formula.

Each palette comes in the standard MAC black compact. The compact are identical to what you’d get from a MAC Quad the only difference is there are no circle pans here as those are replaced with a strip design. The strip design is new and fresh to MAC however, it is a little quirky and could possibly get on your nerves quickly. It’s rather difficult to fit a sponge eyeshadow applicator into the pan and even for a bushier eyeshadow brush it’s a tight squeeze. I suggest a sponge eyeshadow applicator for application but you’ll notice it doesn’t quite fit well into the strips…my suggestion? Just rub it gently over the surface, back and forth, and color should get picked up easily enough within a few swipes.

Although they look small each strip is 1 gram in size. A single MAC eyeshadow is 1.3 grams in size so really there isn’t a HUGE difference in the amount you’re getting from a single pot versus an entire Veluxe Pearlfusion Eyeshadow. I will say that I find after using each palette once and swatching the colors definitely did look like they were close to hitting pan!

So why do I love them so much?

Each palette contains a mix of satin and shimmery shades. The shimmery shades actually dominate the palette and these are in fact a wonderful texture. They have the creamy yet powdery consistency of a true Japanese Eyeshadow and apply fairly easily onto lids while blending out to a perfectly smooth sparkly finish. On the downside they are fall out hell! So I would advise using a good cream base under them to avoid the fall out. Outside of this the texture is quite reminiscent to something you’d buy in Japan OR if you haven’t used Japanese Eyeshadow they are most comparable to the Too Faced The Return of Sexy Eyeshadow Palette.

These shades aren’t incredibly pigmented but they build nicely and create very pretty wearable looks. You’ll find all the shades in each palette match perfectly so you aren’t left with a mismatch of shades which you aren’t sure about using together. All the colors graduate perfectly from highlighting your high brow, to lid and a contrasting crease shade, and a deeper, richer liner color. Five shades in one eye look is made oh so simple with these palettes.

Colors do tend to crease a fair bit so I would suggest a primer prior to application and a base of some sort for them to adhere to and lessen fall out and ease application for the longest wear.

Overall, the MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow are an absolute joy! I really love the creamy texture of these powder shadows, the great looks they create, and yes, all that lovely sparkle rocks my world.

I’d suggest trying AT least one of these as they are really easy to use and create looks with!

    Daaaaaaaang, girl!

You are so beautiful in each and every shot! And I think you age in reverse; what is your secret?!

The palettes fall under want/lust after, not “need” for me at this moment. so I will try to resist.

    You make everything look good.

I wasn’t really wowed by these. I swatched a few of them at the MAC stand on the back of my hand, but wasn’t really impressed. But I also go for bright, vibrant, and opaque colors. 😛
