Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss Review & Swatches
I’ve been on a Mary Kat kick lately so I purchased one of the Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss in Fancy Nancy to try out. Those damn True Dimensions Lipsticks changed my mind about Mary Kay and made me into a believer so now I’m on a mission to try everything lip related from the brand.
My journey starts with the Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss ($14) if this stuff is anywhere as good as the True Dimensions Lipstick I’m in for a treat.
Fancy Nancy is one of those NARS Orgasm type shades that gets me all kinds of excited. It’s kinda a golden peachy rose so it wasn’t terribly hard deciding that this would be the shade to try first.
I doubt it’s going to change my lipgloss life anytime soon in all honesty and wasn’t as groundbreaking for me as the Mary Kay True Dimensions Lipstick I recently fell in love with and reviewed but it’s ok….not great just ok!
Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss has a light buttery texture with a subtly sweet vanilla taste. They don’t really remind me of a gloss formula at all but more like a melted down lip balm of some sort due to the buttery texture of the product. In fact, that buttery texture keeps lips very soft and supple through the wear. I’m, of course, a little nit picky though as I expect shine from a lipgloss, glossiness, and just a generally lightly textured slicker formula so I was a little confused when I tried this out. On one hand I really like how buttery and soft the gloss is and on the other I wished for more shine, glossiness, and a slicker feel.
Fancy Nancy has a pretty shimmer and a subtle hint of tint on lips but nothing too dramatic here, it’s more of a natural look with a good deal of a shimmery finish.
Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss is one to look at for those with drier lips that want a more nourishing gloss formula. The wear time is a little shorter at around two and a half hours but during that time it keeps lips quite moisturized and pleasantly soft after it has worn away.
In my case, the lack of pigment, glossiness, and shine weren’t really something I loved in a lipgloss product. If you loved Almay’s new Liquid Lip Balm this might be a product to consider!
