Maybelline Blue Paradise Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Review & Swatches
Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Blue Paradise is one of eight new, limited edition shades that Maybelline launched for Summer 2013. Blue Paradise was a shade I was lucky enough to come across at CVS but I haven’t seen it anywhere else. So if you’re having a hard time tracking it down I would suggest CVS as your first stop.
Like many of the Summer 2013 Color Tattoo Eyeshadows I had a little grief with Blue Paradise but not nearly the amount of woe I experienced with other shades.
Let’s take a look!
Blue Paradise is a unique shade to get excited about. It’s a deep blue gray that has a duochrome effect which gives the color hints of violet in a certain light. It has a metallic finish with some frost so the shade appears liquid metal-like on lids.
As with most of the newer Summer shades this one gave me some issues through the wear. It applies fairly opaque although it is a bit slippery but not nearly as badly as what I’ve seen. Lucky enough it applies and blends out perfectly and color can be built easily for better intensity. As you can see in my photos there is signs of creasing as it takes several minutes to set and in that extra time the shade easily creases up before its given a chance to dry down. Unfortunately that creasing goy worst as the day progresses so within a three hour period you’ll find the color begins to fade out completely at around the forth hour mark. I have drier eyes but I imagine with oily lids it will be even worst.
I admit it is an annoyance that it creases so badly but I found the color unique enough to warrant a purchase. It’s also a far better formula compared to other shades released for Summer. Moral of the story is it is the least offender in terms of texture, formula, application, and pigment.
The frost factor does floor me…as it does have a fantastic foiled effect on my lids but that effect does seem a bit frosty and frost isn’t a finish that does well on my fuller face.
Either way I am glad I purchased this shade even if to only use as a base. I think Blue Paradise is a rather unique shade of blue violet that’s completely wearable for many skin tones.
Formula aside the color is stunning to say the least.
Let’s hope the Fall 2013 shades, that I’m hoping Maybelline releases, will be better formulated.
