NAR La Paz Pure Matte Lipstick Review & Swatches
NARS La Paz Pure Matte Lipstick is a shade that was released with the NARS Fall 2013 Collection. I wouldn’t typically purchase a shade like this for myself as 1. It’s matte and 2. It’s purple.
As crazy as I am and I promise I’m crazy, I typically avoid skipping around the city in purple lipstick. In my experience, some people can rock the socks rock off a great shade of purple. I, however, am not one of those lucky few.
But if you love orchid or purple NARS La Paz Pure Matte Lipstick might be your girl.
I fell in love with NARS Pure Matte Lipstick when they launched the shade Montego Bay. I recall loving that shade hardcore! Now that I think about it I need to shop my stash for that color and pull it out for some looks. Later on Moscow came into my sweaty little palms and again I was surprised that I adore matte lipstick so very much. And finally Amsterdam ended up in my makeup bag and yet again I found myself adoring a matte lipstick.
Too many times matte lipsticks look dry and are drying on my lips but Pure Matte Lipstick has always had a soft, velvet finish with full coverage that remained quite comfortable through the wear. NARS created their Pure Matte Formula with a soft, hydrating texture that applied fairly easily or at least in my experience that’s been the case.
I can’t say the same for La Paz. This is a purplish berry shade with an opaque finish that has a good deal drier a texture than many of the Pure Mattes I’ve tried before. It has a gritty feel due to silver sparkle in the shade as well which by the way remains on lips well after color has faded. It tugged awfully on my lips on the first, second, and third stroke. It does offer opaque coverage with a goth-y purple sparkle finish. However, the drier texture is a deal breaker for myself and I’m sure many others.
As much as I’d love to recommend La Paz as a must have I’d skip it unless you’re really hard pressed pressed to find purple shades of lipstick. The formula was just dreadful all around.
No like!
