Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil Review

Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil

Supreme indeed! Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil ($14) is a vast improvement on the original Sephora Cleansing Oil!

I think you NEED it.

Take a look!

Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil is an incredibly gentle makeup remover formulated for all skin types but in particular drier skin will love it in my opinion. This is a thinner runny oil blend which interestingly enough as you apply it thickens! Seriously, I massaged it on and it proceeded to go thicker…weird right?

I read mixed reviews on Sephora’s site for it but i personally love it. One person said, “it’s greasy…” Eh? I had to question that. Sure at first you’ll get the oiliness of a cleansing oil but that rinses away! So I suspect she might be using it run.

As with all cleansing oils you simply apply it on dry skin that has makeup on. Massage thoroughly and add a small amount of water to emulsify the oil (it’ll go milky). Keep massaging now rinse! Done! It rinses clean away and doesn’t leave skin oily or greasy in the least. Sephora’s original cleansing oil left me a little tight after use but this is the perfect balance for my drier skin. It doesn’t hydrate but it doesn’t leave me tight or drier after use either which is fabulous as far as I’m concerned. It removes ALL traces of makeup and works as good if not better than a Shu Cleansing Oil!

Overall, Sephora Supreme Cleansing Oil is an effective and simple cleansing oil that has a budget price tag. The formula does an excellent job removing all traces of my makeup in a single step and doesn’t leave my skin dry after use.

This one I love.

Any problems removing mascara? BTW, I think you went viral yesterday at my workplace with the Poise tushie freshners! LOL =)

    • the Muse

none although I prefer removing prior to cleansing but it works a treat to remove mascara, no issues 😀 LOL HA loves it!

  • Karla

Do you have the Mac cleansing oil to compare? I’m so intrigued

    • the Muse

mac’s cleansing oil dries my skin out a bit, I def like this better.

  • Mary

I’ve been meaning to try a cleansing oil, and I think you’ve sold me on this one.

  • moja31

Would this work as a preliminary cleanse? I’m currently using the Kiehl’s ultra facial cleanser, which I like (finally something that doesn’t dry me out), but I’ve heard from a lot of folks that double cleansing is a good idea.

  • Whitney

How does it compare to (my favorite) the Kose deep cleansing oil?

  • Rachel

I was so excited for this after liking MAC’s , but it didn’t work at all for me. For one, it contains mineral oil, which my skin is really sensitive to, so I started breaking out. Most of the time it rinsed away pretty cleanly, but other times it seemed like I just couldn’t get it off my skin! I tried more water, hotter water, less water… still felt like there was a residue. I had to follow with another cleanser to feel like it was gone. I ended up returning it. 🙁

I was going to buy my first bottle of Shu this upcoming fall but I think I’ll grab this instead. FAR better for my wallet. 😀

  • monica

Hi Muse! I am soooo lazy I don’t feel like going to Sephora’s site so pray tell…does this contain mineral oil?

    Thank you 😉

      • Monica

        You are lovely!
soooo the cleanser. I just don’t know… I am not too keen on mineral oil cleansers, I feel like it causes breakouts or something. I do love the Mac one though, but a little too expensive IMO, so if I happen to see this on my next trip to Sephora, I will check it out.

        • the Muse

aw <3! I don't really have an issue with mineral oil tbh...but if it is going to break you out you should def avoid!

  • WendyS

Does this have fragrance? MAC’s also dried me out and I’ve been intending to try this and keep forgetting (until I’m not near a Sephora!). Thanks for all your great reviews and info!

  • kimkats

Ooooo…. You’ve sold me! The MAC one dried me out ferociously – this sounds like a nice readily available (even to ME!) cleansing oil, and I do really like that method of cleansing – takes the makeup right off!

Thanks for another super helpful review Muse!! Stay cool, gurl – Heard on the radio that 45 states are going to be over 90 degrees today, and we’re both in ’em!

    • the Muse

my pleasure kim ;-D you feeling better? YES yes yes! and hydrated you do the same!

  • Tanya

Ulta has a cleansing oil and it’s on sale right now buy 1 get 1 free 🙂

  • hannahk17

I love this cleansing oil! I’ve had it months too, cos you only really need a bit at a time. Total bargain.

  • Laurinha

    Hi Muse!!
Do u know if this cleansing oil removes sunscreen effectively – the higher SPF ones?

    • the Muse

i’ve never really had a hard time removing sunscreen laurinha so I guess yes? I use an SPF 50 and I don’t have issues removing it at the end of the day!?

      • Laurinha

Tks for yr reply/this review! I also use SPF 50, so I’ll try/buy this cleansing oil on my next visit to Sephora

  • Abryda

I love this cleansing oil, it does not leave me oily & really removes all of my makeup. Has a really nice fragrance & leaves my skin feeling soft & fresh. Very inexpensive also.

  • sam

WE HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM!!!! Sephora discontinued the cleansing oil which the ultimate tragedy because i was hoping to pick up another bottle 🙁 i was wondering if you had a recommendation to replace it because i really dislike using the garnier one as i had an allergic reaction to one of their other products.
