Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Medley Palette Review & Swatches
The Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Medley Palette ($4.99) were released int two shades selections exclusively at Walgreens locations for Summer 2013. I recently hauled and posted about them earlier in June but never got a chance to review them until now.
Honestly, I didn’t really love them for a number of reasons. Wet n Wild had a consistent run with me about two years ago with an improvement in quality and some great releases. I feel the brand has digressed with recent releases and the quality has gone down and the releases are highly repetitive. The ColorIcon Palettes in particular were fantastic but releases for example like Fergie’s Centerstage PhotoOp Eyeshadow Palettes are a joke.
These Medley Eyeshadow Palettes are another reason the brand loses points with me unfortunately.
Take a look!
The Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Medley Palette comes in two variations and includes three eyeshadows, two eyeliners, and three sparkle overcoats as well as a liquid Mega Liner. Each comes in a simple plastic black compact with a clear flip lid. I think the design of the palette and mismatch of colors makes them appear rather cheap looking. They just look cheap and cheesy and they smell rather badly too! They just feel like a rushed release with no real thought going into them. Another annoying thing would be the two shade choices are not named merely numbered as 34120 and 34121 grrrr!
The only usable product in each compact are the eyeshadows. These are richly pigmented and saturated with color. I find the shimmery overcoats are fall out hell and have a super powdery texture that kicks up a good deal of shimmer or in the case of 34120 you get a good deal of frostiness. The powder eyeliners, even used wet, are dry, stiff, and apply patchy.
As pigmented as the shadows are I think the entire color scheme is odd as hell. If you use the shades individually you might be ok but a coppery penny shade paired with purple and aqua green? I can’t even begin to think of a look to create using this. 34120 is the less of the two evils as the pink and gold shadow goes fairly well and maybe you can use the cranberry to accent.
Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner is fairly pigmented however, I find it flakes up and smears once set. I’m not a fan of liquid liner anyway so I can do without this added extra.
Overall, Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Medley Palette are perhaps best for the hardcore WnW lovers but not for those who are makeup snobs. I’ve had a solid relationship with Wet n Wild the last few years but I notice more and more of their releases are absolute garbage including these palettes. The odd smell, the mismatch of shades, all the frost and shimmer, and the dryness of the liners make the palettes a bust.
No thanks.
Don’t waste your money or your time.
