Ciate Chocolate Nail Polish Remover And New Manga!

Hapi Mari

Good Morning!

Happy Monday. My azz is dragging today. I can’t keep my eyes open and I had the hardest time getting up this morning. Dontcha just hate Mondays? The good news is I grabbed a sneak peek of Hapi Mari (Happy Marriage?!) on my way to work. This released while I was on vacation so I’m just starting it now. I dislike reading manga online and been waiting for it to release in English so was quite happy to come home to a box from my favorite comic store when I got home from vacation and inside was the pre-book I did for this. If you like cute Josei-style manga reads be sure to pick it up! From what I have read it’s shaping up nicely! Also Midnight Secretary gets a release in the Fall if vampires are your thing! Can’t wait to read that myself.

And on the cosmetic front how about chocolate nail polish remover?

    • the Muse

      • m

I am in Canada, thought this is being shipped from some UK online shop 🙂

        • the Muse

i’m not in the uk, it’s available at qvc.com that’s not some uk shop?

  • Maki

I thought this manga was so cute until he kept being ridiculously abusive and threatening to rape her, I just couldn’t read it anymore 🙁

    • the Muse

oh no! i didn’t get that far…I only have volume 1 in my possession! the rest will be out throughout the year. That sucks 🙁 I still want to read through and see what I end up thinking. It’s 10 books isn’t it?! so prob by next year all 10 will be out.

I have been waiting for midnight secretary eagerly!! I read it all online and I guess the manga gods answered my prayers and brought midnight secretary forth unto me in English! The author of midnight secretary also has a really good series involving a wolf (but it has a really long title in Japanese I can’t remember right now). I’m kind of hoping someone will pick up Kurobara Alice; that’s been one of my favorites lately! Still I was on the border about happy marriage. I wasn’t sure whether I would like it or not. Muse, tell me if it’s any good please!

hey rachael. I’ve been waiting ages for midnight secretary too and praying for the English release. I HATE reading manga online with a passion so I typically wait for the English release. It actually launches in September so a hop, skip, and a jump away. you can already prebook at local comic book stores or Midtown Comics will happily take your order over the phone (or online) and get it to you when it launches 😀 the author, ohmi tomu, has a lot of supernatural themed anime that haven’t released stateside that..she has a tiger one or perhaps you are talking about Kindan no Koi de Ikou which involves a girl falling in love with a shape shifting wolf. I feel like Shōujo dominates the manga scene here in the US and we don’t get nearly as many Josei titles like Hapi Mari :-/ Black Rose Alice would be lovely to finally see in print, it is kinda old already you’d think they’d release it already! Do you hang out on the forum!? I’ve only read a few pages (typically can gobble up a book in like 20 minutes haha but I was busy today and just read a small portion) and so far it is really cute…although someone commented above that there are rape elements…I guess it’s a bit darker than just your typical smutty Josei! I’d recommend giving it a go. Believe volume 2 is out in September…!

      • Rachael

Thanks muse!! And yes, Kindan no Koi de Ikou was the manga I was thinking of. I love that manga too! I’m kinda hoping that maybe viz may decide to pick it up if midnight secretary is successful (no doubt it should be). I hate to read manga online but I have an insatiable appetite for manga that knows no bounds, but when a series that I really like is translated into English I always buy them (like my childhood favorite sailor moon! How awesome is it that it was brought back!?). I was hoping that someone would pick up Kurobara Alice since after school nightmare got licensed a while back but I think that maybe it could be a bit too “dark” that a lot of companies wouldn’t consider licensing it (not sugary sweet enough?). But a girl can hope! Viz has answered my prayers once! Let’s try for another!

        • Rachael

Oh, and thanks for all the info and the recommendation! I think I’ll check out Hapi Mari next time I’m at the bookstore. I was on the fence about that one but I think its at least worth checking it out! Thanks so much!

        • the Muse

I ACTUALLY really hope this is a turn around for viz as they keep things a little “clean” with their releases. I just like the feel of a book in my hands…I can’t really get into reading it online for some reason 😀 but I also end up missing out on a lot to due to this! I SURE hope this is a turn around for them. I don’t think it could hurt releasing something that adults will like as many of their titles are teen orientated. Let’s see! Crossing fingers! Even Hapi Mari is a bit controversial for them!

  • Nat

Weird, the storyline description reminds me a lot of “Stepping on Roses” (and maybe a bit of “Butterflies, Flowers”?). In any case, I frickin’ LOVE josei so thanks for the recommend! 😀

Maki, if you don’t like what you’ve read of this manga so far then you definitely shouldn’t read “Hot Gimmick”, it has a lot of that in it (which in a perverse way I actually enjoy, so I’m looking forward to this series, lol). You might like Monkey High and High School Debut; those are a couple really cute josei series where the guy is totally sweet to the girl. 🙂

    • the Muse

mm not really stepping on roses is more Shōujo, very cute, sweet for teens and Butterflies, Flowers yeah kinda I guess but different sort of setting 😀 I actually have Hot Gimmick complete through 12 😀 read it quite some years ago. I’ve read SOME of monkey high but it didn’t catch my interest for some reason! High School Debut I have not read ;-D will check it out, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Nat

Oh man, Hot Gimmick is soooo tasty – I wish there was a full-blown hentai version, LOL!

OMG you should totally read High School Debut – it takes the average “regular girl likes most popular guy in school” storyline and totally turns it on its head. It’s by far one of my fave manga. 🙂

        • the Muse

I think it would make a fine hentai 😀 add in pregnancy by some tentacle beast instead and you really got something ;-D haha! no kid? tell me more…

          • Nat

LOLZ! What made me think that was the drawings the author put on the chapter title pages and the little ones in the corners of some pages…I remember one was the main character with a chain around her (and her looking pouty/sad crying a bit), and I’m thinking “HELLZ YEAH let’s see some of that!” but it was more of a metaphor for what was going on in the story, heehee. 😀

  • Miss D

I’ll have to look up this Midnight Secretary manga! I am not a big manga fan, however, I will buy something IF I love the artwork, especially if it’s about vampires. I’ve always loved Maturi Akino’s Pet Shop of Horrors, and I actually started buying the Tarot Cafe mangas only b/c the artwork is beautiful like Petshop’s. Can you believe I actually bought Chobits a couple of years back just b/c I love the cover art?! I think I’m crazy! I also have the Model series because…well, pretty cover art and story about vampires! Really, I think I’m totally hopeless! XD
Anyway, hope you enjoy your new manga! 🙂

  • Yen

I’ve been a long time reader and I didn’t know you read manga! I was wondering if Midnight Secretary was ever going to get released in English. I was impatient and read it all online. I read a lot of Seinen and shoujo manga so I was surprised how the story unfolded for midnight secretary haha. I’ll have to check out Hapi Mari next time I’m at a bookstore! I’m impatient waiting for English releases, but I love to own them. There’s something satisfying about being able to hold a book and flip through the pages. I can read a whole manga in about 20 minutes, but end up taking forever admiring the artwork X)

    • the Muse

i do indeed Yen 🙂 I was TEMPTED believe me but I’m so glad Viz finally picked it up! Hapi Mari is def cute, finished it up and thought it was quite cute…! can’t wait for the next volumes! I’m the same way which is why I dislike reading online so much! and yes, agreed, having a book in your hands and flipping through is SO much nicer. There are certain titles available on nook/kindle but I prefer having the book in my hand 😀
