Clarins Instant Concealer

Clarins Instant Concealer is coming your way for the Fall 2013 season in four shade selection with a formula to perk up tired eyes. This long lasting creamy concealer promises to hide your under eye issues with a light optimizing formula.

New concealer? I’m on the case! Clarins Instant Concealer sounded very promising to me and since I already own some of Clarins click pen concealer options and love them I way ready to try something new.

Clarins Instant Concealer Fall 2013

Clarins Instant Concealer ($30) arrives on counters in October but I will say a recent trip to Macys revealed it is already available so do check with your local counter just in case.

The concealer is created in a range of shades that suit different dark circles undertones. Fair (1) treats bluish dark circles, Medium (2) is more suitable for brown/violet dark circles, Medium Deep (3) for deeper skin types is for brown/black dark circles, and Deep (4) also for brown and black dark circles.

I’m actually not really sure what color my dark circles are…they seem black to me…! But I also don’t have heavy dark circles either as I suffer from more of a tired look with puffiness and finer lines. I typically want a concealer that will perk up the way my eyes look when I just woke up or when I’m staring at my computer screen too long. You can see what I mean by clicking here. That’s how my eyes tend to look when they are puffy and tired.

Clarins Instant Concealer contains corrective pigments that magnify light to optically blur fine lines and dark circles but it isn’t a glowing finish. There isn’t any shimmer here or sparkle which I find light reflecting pigments seem to favor in their formulas. This seems to contain some mica but it thankfully doesn’t glow under my eyes.

It contains Aloe Vera which actually makes it very moisturizing. It runs thinner but has a creamy texture which blends flawlessly and applies equally as easy. It’s not an emollient type of concealer but runs to feeling more like a tinted moisturizer formula which provides a highly hydrating feel and dewy to the touch finish that sets to a soft, silky one. It also contains caffeine extract to reduce puffiness. However, my puffiness is not necessarily due to being too tired or allergies, etc…caffeine would treat that kind of puffiness but my own is from more mature, aging eyes and that’s difficult to treat with eye creams/concealers/etc….in that case it’s all about concealing puffiness but not treating it.

This is sheer to medium coverage that looks very natural and flawless once applied. I think if you have severe dark circles you might find that this runs too sheer to actual conceal them but might work to reflect light to them so your eyes appear brighter. Two things that stood out for me with the formula was the ease of application and how hydrated my eyes felt wearing this and I also liked how much brighter my eyes appeared and looked after application.

Overall, Clarins Instant Concealer is the perfect concealer for aging eyes. This is the type of skin loving concealer that will apply flawless under heavily lined eyes that might show signs of crepiness or even severely dry eyes that have issues with concealer creasing, fading, etc….it wears for a solid 7 hours without fading or creasing into my own finer lines and brightens up my eyes considerably so I look more refreshed and less tired. If your concealer needs fall into the “more hydrating” category I think you’ll find this is an excellent pick!

It launches later this Fall at Clarins counters or online at www.clarinsusa.com

I don’t suffer from discoloration, or puffiness, but I like using concealers to add a bit of extra moisture around the eyes. This is one I’ll definitely look into!

Sounds like this has sort of that YSL Touche Eclat effect–highlighting and deflecting light but not necessarily pigmented to actually conceal. How would you compare it to the YSL Touche Eclat.

What’s the suggested retail price…I thought you usually provided us with that information? I checked the Clarins site and they don’t have this concealer up yet, so interesting that Macy’s is already selling it.

it seems to be very similar to the Lancome Concealer and i have really dark circles, did nothing!! Still hunting for my HG concealer!

hmmm – looks a bit similar to mac moisturecover, except the shade range is so limited. I’m going to go check it out, but shade 2 is definitely way too light for my skin, while shade 3 might be a bit dark.
