Detox with Lush Dark Angels Cleanser

Lush Dark Angels Cleanser

I needed a little detox time with Lush Dark Angels Cleanser this week. My skin is rather dry, flaky, and a little over stressed courtesy too much air conditioning, stale airplane air, travel, and exhaustion. You ever have that sudden moment in time when you look at your face and realize how incredibly dull, lackluster, and tired it looks?

Typically that means it’s time to haul out the facial sheet masks for me but prior to doing that I give myself a good scrub with Dark Angels to get my glow back.

Seriously, if you wanna spoil your skin a little I highly suggest checking this stuff out. When my skin is looking all kinds of dull I simply take a small chunk of Dark Angels Cleanser, add a smidge of water, and work the cleanser into a thick paste in the palm of my hands, and scrub, scrub, scrub my glow back. It’ll resemble MAC Volcanic Ash or Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask as you work to get it into the right consistency.

If you used or tried Lush Coal Face you’ll find Dark Angels is very similar but with a different application method. This contains chunks of charcoal, black sugar, etc…it’s meant for a more oily/acne prone skin type as it really does a super job with oil. However, I like to use it once and a while to exfoliate the glow back to my skin. Be careful with it as it is rather harsh so scrub gently if you’re super sensitive.

It’s one of the best products I’ve tried to restore the glow to my skin. After I use it I rinse, dry, and follow up with a facial sheet mask and a rich moisturizer. Now head to bed…in the morning your skin is guaranteed to glow!

Try it, I know you’ll love it.

Is it a fav of yours?

Do share your experience with Dark Angels!

Love to hear!

Yes!! I use this too whenever my skin needs a pick me up, or if I have a bunch of clogged pores, then I’ll use this as a mask and leave it on for ten minutes to detox. I love it. It leaves your skin so soft too! Only thing I don’t like, sometimes it doesn’t really wash off right. I’m not sure if it’s because the charcoal is sticking to the oil in my skin or what, but now and then I have to cleanse with something after. Either way, it’s well worth it.

anna a friend of mine said the same with it not washing away fully and also she said it was an issue with her pores as well as it stuck to larger, visible pores…I can’t say I’ve had the issue but maybe try to tone after rinsing/drying off 😀 that might help remove excess ;D and def follow with a sheet mask of some sort! I swear this, a sheet mask, and a good moisturizer in the evening really gets skin in proper shape 😀

Oh, this is one lush product that is my holy grail. Cleans out the pores, works on my ever so horrible oily skin. I use this in the shower as its messy and find I don’t always do a good rinse using it at the sink. Part of my morning routine 2x a week. Makeup looks flawless to 🙂

Its a must try, a tad expensive (my opinion) but def does the job and worth the splurge. Also works well as a mask. Leave on while in the shower and rinse off 🙂

I LOVE this stuff. I recommend it to people all the time, though I usually tell them to do it in the shower because it can get so messy. A year or two ago they didn’t have it on the shelves because corporate was resourcing one of the main ingredients, and I was SO sad and stalked the website until it returned!!!

I love it in the shower too but it makes a MESS and leaves a ring 😀

I need this! I’ve been using Aqua Marina cleanser for a while now but it’s good for a less oilier face than mine, and I have five empty pots to return at Lush during my quarterly haul later this month. Can’t wait! Thank you for the review!

This has been an amazing product for me! I don’t have oily skin, but my face feels the best with products that give it an invigorating scrub. I tried Angels on Bare Skin and Herbalism, but they just weren’t cutting it for the dry skin that flakes horrible on my nose, along with my acne breakouts. I use this, along with both Fresh Farmacy (on days I need my redness to go away, and a more mild treatment) and Coalface (really squeaky clean feeling, not as scrubby as Dark Angels but better for everyday use). Yep, 3 things to clean my face, but I -love- them all 😀

the stores give you a small plastic container to store it and online you get a black screw top container (like the one dream cream comes in). no issues with it drying out but you have to be careful with it crystallizing. Store it in a cold, dry place and mind the expiration date 🙂

I’ve been using the Freeman’s black mask stuff occasionally for a couple months and it really works. I might consider this too.

But I’ve been wondering about sheet masks, which ones do you like? Especially ones that i could order on amazon prime.

Ok I ordered one of the essence 10 packs on amazon that had really good reviews. I looked at your reviews and it’s hard to get a good concept of what’s great and what isn’t without clicking for the more on every one, which just got overwhelming because well ton 😉 So taking a chance was my only option.

        • the Muse

essence 10 packs? from what brand? lol true…I did a lot of reviews for a variety of masks…my beauty diary and my scheming are two of my fav brands, can’t go wrong with any of their offerings 😀

Thanks for the tip Muse! I kind of hit a plateau with my skin care lately and I believe its because I stopped using my beloved Lush face scrubs/cleansers. Its odd but I never like any other cleansers as much as I love Lush. It is kind of like the difference between showering with soap or showergel. I think soap makes me feel clean while shower gel is just for the smell hehe!

  • Anna

I’d love to try this, but I have a fair amount of redness and I was wondering if this would cause more?

I really do love Lush cleansers and toners and I’ve got a whole bunch of them. My favorite is angels on a bare skin. I was really wondering this one but it is unavailable here in Turkey so… :(((
