Pop Peak Performance Mascara Review

This was provided to me by a brand for review but all opinions expressed are my own

Pop Peak Performance Mascara

It’s a tricky and messy little bugger but with a little patience Pop Peak Performance Mascara creates some dramatic lashes! This mascara actually takes you away from traditional blushes and places an innovative lash comb applicator in your hands.

Whether or not it’ll work for you depends on your level of patience as Pop Peak Performance Mascara does have a learning curve and can get frustrating fast but the effort is worth it.

This comes in a pen with an attached lash comb for application. You have to swivel the bottom of the barrel which will release mascara into the comb. Sounds messy? That’s because it is! The twist up design seems interesting but sometimes the flow of the mascara is a touch too much so you have to either wipe off excess or you have to be sure to allow just the right amount of product to flow into the comb. The twist up design also ensures your brush is hygienic as it is easier to clean than a regular wand which you’re basically dipping back into the barrel which each use. You can see below I just have a tiny little bit of the product in the comb! This is really all you need to build up lashes as too much will result in sticky lashes.

The comb has slant which enables you to wriggle under your lash line and pull lashes up and forward. At first the experience was awful for me because the mascara was gooey, it was too much product be applied to my lashes which results in my lashes sticking together. Product ended up everywhere…I had mascara on my lower lash line, all over my upper lash line, it was just a mess. Slow and easy wins this race…you have to comb the mascara through your lashes very careful and in doing so you can get some really dramatic results. The formula is very thick and super black so if you favor a smoky eye this is a bold mascara to pair up with your look!

Pop Peak Performance Mascara Before and After

I wouldn’t say you’re looking at a ton of curl here so curling lashes prior is recommend. It holds curl very well but it isn’t a lightweight mascara so you’ll find it feels a bit heavier, perhaps a little stiffer as well….it does however, produce a fullness that rivals many of my mascaras. Again, length isn’t really here but the fact that it creates this gorgeous lush full look to my lashes makes it an instant win for me.

I don’t think my photos do it justice but I promise the volume is incredible here.

Overall, Pop Peak Performance Mascara isn’t user friendly but if you have the patience (and the time) to learn how to use I think you’ll be quite happy with the amount of volume and drama it produces.

I like this stuff.

Hard to use? Sure. Awesome results? Abso-freaking-lutely!

I first used this about a year ago when I was interning at Pixi…it’s so good!

The flow of mascara sounds tricky. I still get the best results, using practically any mascara, by rubbing the wand on a metal eyelash comb and then combing it through. Kid you not, it looks like false lashes. I don’t do it every day for lack of time, but it gives me amazing volume and length. . Sounds like they were trying for that effect, but I know I’d get this all over my face.

I rather liked this mascara. It worked really well in my wonky lashes.

how did you find it’s staying power? I received a pop mascara in my ipsy bag a few months back and it gave me gorgeous lashes. I went out to meet with my husband’s cousin that I hadn’t seen in years and she kept staring at me funny. Before I left I used their rest room and I had mascara all under my eyes!!! In reading reviews from others on ipsy they had the same issue so I am wondering if this formula is any better? Until I hear otherwise I am gun shy on this brand for mascara. It’s too bad!

nary an issue but I have drier eyes Andrea…so I rarely have problems with mascara. Not sure if you do or not? ugh that’s horrible sorry chica!

I’ve got the blue and I love it! Out of the box, it took forever to get the mascara flowing and once it did it was messy, but the second time I used it things settled down. The blue is a nice dark indigo instead of a bright little kid blue.
