Prior to purchase you’ll have to keep in mind a few things about this palette….

First off it does look quite similar to other palettes Bobbi has done but this is pretty much a selection of shades you likely haven’t seen all in the same location before. Secondly, you have to be willing to work with sheerer shades. There isn’t a ton of pigmentation here! Bobbi created the Rich Chocolate Eye Palette to be wearable and easy to apply. This is a palette that would work great for mature eyes as the colors are very soft and quite sheer. I find the texture on a few shades runs a touch drier but they all blend fairly easily and create very pretty yet basic looks. Don’t expect a ton of pigmentation because that’s not what you’ll get here. I think those with finer lines, puffiness, or aging issues under their eyes will appreciate how easy to use this palette and how flattering it is. It won’t accentuate under eye issues and creates very soft, delicate looks.

I admit I liked it.

I have puffiness, I have drier eyes, and I have finer lines and I felt the shades create very pretty, natural nude eye looks. There isn’t pigment here so drama isn’t on the menu. I think the first thing people will think when they see my swatches or even swatches from other bloggers will be that the palette is uneventful. And perhaps that’s true…but if your look is softer I’m positive the Rich Chocolate Eye Palette will agree with you.

Hi Muse, I just bought this today and can’t wait to use it! I know what you mean that some makeup addicts might be underwhelmed by it, but these shades are right up my alley! Thanks for the review and swatches. As always, you rock, Muse!

denise I COULD not agree more…! This isn’t urban decay style makeup…it’s perfect for those who just want simplicity sometimes (or enjoy it all the time). aw shucks you rock too ;-D and thanks! <3!

But couldn t you get almost the same colors in the Urban Decays Naked Basics pallette? I’m hoping her holiday kit has more pigmentation. Those colors in that set would be perfect for me.

    • Denise

UD’s Naked Basics is almost completely matte. Pretty sure I could dupe those colors from my other Naked palettes, though.

I thought I was inlove when I saw the original pics for this palette but after seeing it and testing it last week I’m no longer sure. I’m definitely getting a brown palette this season but after seeing the teasers for the Chanel holiday 2013 collection Bobbi Brown is less tempting. Have you seen it? Gorgeous! Less colors but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It will very much depend on texture and pigmentation (hate having a face covered in eye shadow fall out).any chance of a Chanel review?

Dea chanel holiday 2013 looks more like Fall but man it is gorgeous and I can’t wait to try some of it 😀 I’ll def have a review soonish! ;-D

I bought this when it was a pre-order from BB.com. I have been using it for a few weeks and love it. I also own both UD Naked pallets. They are all beautiful in their own ways. I use this one for work and like the two matte shades for blending in my crease. I can then add more shimmer with the middle crazy sparkle shade… which has very little fall out!!!

  • Samantha M

I definitely love some sheerer shades as i often end up going for softer and more subtle looks. And i have to say i am in love with that middle shade. Thanks so much for the review and swatches! x

I am a mature woman and I love these shadows. You can get a lot of color out of them if you want. I prefer a sheerer application and they work well for me!

I got it over the weekend & it is lovely for a subtle look. I have a couple other BB eyeshadow palettes with this configuration (they remind me of painboxes!) & although they are neutrals, they are all a bit different. What I especially like about this one is the pinkish, milk chocolatey cast of these shades.

Darn, I was hoping this eye shadow palette would be more pigmented. 🙁 Anything exactly like this but with more pigment that you know of?
