Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion Review & Swatches
Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion is currently making a round of reviews across a variety of Asian beauty bloggers. It recently launched in Korea and is a new cushion style foundation product much like we’ve seen from Amore Pacific, Holika Holika, and a variety of other brands recently.
These foundation pacts are becoming very popular in Korea so I suspect you’ll start seeing them here in the US across a wider market come Spring 2014 into Fall 2014. Of course, most of the formulas are BB Cream where as Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion is actually a water based mineral foundation product.
Let’s take a look!
I recently tried out Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion in the Honey Beige W24 shade which is a near perfect match for my skin tone. This is a lighter, creamy beige with light beige undertones that should suit medium fair skin types with cooler or neutral undertones.
It comes housed in a chunky compact which features a full size mirror and a double lid closure which clicks shut to keep the foundation fresh and also acts as a spot to keep the sponge. This is a six in one formula that contains SPF 50 PA+++ plus it whitenings, provides moisture, and oil control. The rubber puff the include is great because you can easily clean it without fear of ruining it.
The cushion has a memory foam-like feel which bounces back to its original size when you press into it. It seems like a giant sponge to me soaked in foundation. A simple push with your finger allows for a single light application on your face, two pushes will allow you to build up color for better coverage. The coverage the cushion offers is sheer to medium depending how much you apply and there is plenty of pigment here to conceal most problems such as redness, acne scarring, blemishes, and darkness.
If you want you can apply with your fingers but the best application is to gently press the sponge down into the product and pat onto your skin. If you want you can of course go back over your work and blend out with fingers. The formula is a watery yet creamy consistency that feels very light on skin. It does dry and set quickly to a matte finish which is one reason I disliked it. Coverage is very natural but the powdery finish might accentuate drier areas or at least that was the case for me. The key here, if you have drier skin, is to prep very well to keep the coverage as natural as possible so the foundation isn’t clinging to patchier areas. It does have a light, fresh scent that could prove irritating to sensitive users but I find it very pleasant.
Wear time is about four hours for me with fading occurring right as I reach hour five. Since it travels easily if not a little bulky you can touch up easily on the go.
Overall, Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion provides natural, flawless coverage that wears quite nicely. I like the airbrushed appearance it gives to my complexion! I do warn those with drier skin though to prep well prior to application as it tends to creep and cling onto drier areas. The shade selection is highly limited (only two shades) so you might be pressed to find a good match for yourself unfortunately. This is an affordable way to try out the “cushion” foundation rage/trend that’s making its way across Asia at the moment as it isn’t a terribly expensive product.
