Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion 2

Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion is currently making a round of reviews across a variety of Asian beauty bloggers. It recently launched in Korea and is a new cushion style foundation product much like we’ve seen from Amore Pacific, Holika Holika, and a variety of other brands recently.

These foundation pacts are becoming very popular in Korea so I suspect you’ll start seeing them here in the US across a wider market come Spring 2014 into Fall 2014. Of course, most of the formulas are BB Cream where as Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion is actually a water based mineral foundation product.

Let’s take a look!

I recently tried out Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion in the Honey Beige W24 shade which is a near perfect match for my skin tone. This is a lighter, creamy beige with light beige undertones that should suit medium fair skin types with cooler or neutral undertones.

It comes housed in a chunky compact which features a full size mirror and a double lid closure which clicks shut to keep the foundation fresh and also acts as a spot to keep the sponge. This is a six in one formula that contains SPF 50 PA+++ plus it whitenings, provides moisture, and oil control. The rubber puff the include is great because you can easily clean it without fear of ruining it.

The cushion has a memory foam-like feel which bounces back to its original size when you press into it. It seems like a giant sponge to me soaked in foundation. A simple push with your finger allows for a single light application on your face, two pushes will allow you to build up color for better coverage. The coverage the cushion offers is sheer to medium depending how much you apply and there is plenty of pigment here to conceal most problems such as redness, acne scarring, blemishes, and darkness.

If you want you can apply with your fingers but the best application is to gently press the sponge down into the product and pat onto your skin. If you want you can of course go back over your work and blend out with fingers. The formula is a watery yet creamy consistency that feels very light on skin. It does dry and set quickly to a matte finish which is one reason I disliked it. Coverage is very natural but the powdery finish might accentuate drier areas or at least that was the case for me. The key here, if you have drier skin, is to prep very well to keep the coverage as natural as possible so the foundation isn’t clinging to patchier areas. It does have a light, fresh scent that could prove irritating to sensitive users but I find it very pleasant.

Wear time is about four hours for me with fading occurring right as I reach hour five. Since it travels easily if not a little bulky you can touch up easily on the go.

Overall, Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion provides natural, flawless coverage that wears quite nicely. I like the airbrushed appearance it gives to my complexion! I do warn those with drier skin though to prep well prior to application as it tends to creep and cling onto drier areas. The shade selection is highly limited (only two shades) so you might be pressed to find a good match for yourself unfortunately. This is an affordable way to try out the “cushion” foundation rage/trend that’s making its way across Asia at the moment as it isn’t a terribly expensive product.

Have you tried the Laneige BB Cushion? It came out a year or few ago and was the first product I saw with this packaging. Their BBs are pretty great too.

  • Sacre

Hehe, this is already on my wishlist, it seems perfect for travelling needs and the fact that there are refills available.

  • Alanna

meh, these cushions kind of gross me out lol. I just really don’t see the point if the formula of the foundation is just a basic one, the fact that it’s suspended in a sponge just seems like it would dry out faster and be more prone to bacteria and dirt from use. :p

This literally made my mouth water. But in the end, I ended up choosing the Holika Holika cushion BB cream.
On a side note, F2plus1 is the best and fastest deliverer on ebay!

Sigh.. I was almost buying it thinking that the honey beige would be dark enough for me. Guess I’ll buy the Laneige one.

  • shulamite

so overall, out of all the cushion products you’ve tried, which do you think is the best?

    • the Muse

The Laneige/Amore Pacific is probably the nicest I’ve tried. They both have a really nice texture that applies evenly and keeps my face dewy to the touch. the coverage seems to wear long as well without fading quickly! I still prefer a regular old BB Cream at the end of the day though 😀

There are actually 3 shades available for this compact, N02 Light Beige, W13 Natural Beige, and W24 Honey Beige. 🙂
I am ordering Honey Beige for my light olive/tan complexion. Thanks for the review! This is actually exactly what I hoped it would be like. Cant wait until it arrives. 🙂

In our country (Philippines), the any cushion pact is pink, I notice yours is white. I wonder why?

Isn’t this just like Covergirl’s Aquasmooth or Vincent Longo’s Water Canvas foundation?

    • Tiffany

Not at all, those are creme-to-powder solid compact foundations, whereas this one is basically a cushion filled with liquid foundation/bb cream. You basically have to push down on the cushion and the foundation comes up.

Patty! I’m also from the philippines (Makati) and in Seoul for a week! Been stocking up like crazy with Korean cosmetics. Tickled pink I’m not the only Filipino who reads the Muse. Anyway, I can grab you a few- really liking the light-medium coverage of this one. SPF50 pa. I use NO2 and it cost me KRW 24,000 with a refill I think (that’s less than Php1,000!!!).

About the Precious Mineral Any Cushion is it suitable for sensitive skin? I’m interested to buy it but not so sure if it’s okey on my skin. It said that it covers acne redspt darkspot etc. but for now I don’t have acne, I was just thinking if maybe after I use it, maybe I start getting acnes. What do you think? Thank you.

My mom recently bought few stuff from Etude House for me on her trip to Korea, and this was one of the stuff that she picked up. I’ve tried it and I gotta say I am really loving it. It’s marketed (apparently) as hydrating BB cream, and it does have a tiniest bit of cooling sensation on the skin when I apply it. It’s lightweight but buildable coverage. From what you said it doesn’t sound like it caters well to dry skin, but I think I can say that it won’t be great for oily skin either. Probably combination to normal skin types will have more use out of this one than our super dry or super oily sisters! But I think it’s great for my oily combo skin during the winter :3

  • PiqueDame

sorry, I didn`t get that – you don`t like the matte effect it does on your skin, do you? why so? do you have a dry skin?

  • Ardhya

I’m thinking of getting one soon but I’m so torn between getting the Laneige one or the Etude one… which one do you think better between the two? :’O

  • Moorsal

what do you think what mac shade would this cushion match with?
    awesome post 🙂

    • Tiffany

I’m about a NC25 (neck is NC30) and I use W24 Honey Beige (Same as the Muse )

  • Tiffany

Thanks for the review! I’ve been using this for about a month and I’m really liking it! I’m not sure if you reply to comments but I’m just wondering how you would compare this with the Hada Labo BB moist cream that you have reviewed in the past? Mainly in terms of finish and wear time 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

hi tiffany my pleasure, completely different products in my opinion as Haba Labo is a gel cream where as this is a more runny consistency with a matte finish.

  • Miz

Hi muse, do you think this cushion would match an NC30 skin tone?
I really interested with this, but I’m afraid it’ll be too light for me. 🙁
    Thank you

  • nacchan

hey muse, I heard that this cushion will only last a month or so if you use it everyday. Is that true? 🙁
