Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer Review & Swatches

Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer 3

Ahem Cle de Peau’s Concealer is $70! Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer is $32 and just as bloody awesome kids. Hourglass Cosmetics Hidden Corrective Concealer has made the rounds in the beauty world as a killer concealer and me, self proclaimed concealer junkie, had yet to try it until recently.

All the requests asking me to review finally made me cave….I admit I felt like my Cle de Peau little splurge was disappointing a bit so I wasn’t sure what to expect from Hidden Corrective Concealer.

Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealers

Not everyone is crazy enough to dish out near $70 on concealer but I was willing to go the mile but I thought that Cle de Peau’s Concealer was a touch over hyped at this price tag. Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer steps into my life for less than half that price and it’s exactly the same formula but for heaps less. My wallet is lightened yet I’m still benefiting from this highly moisturizing, creamy, pigmented formula. YES! Score! WINNING!

This is a highly moisturizing, rich, creamy concealer with an undetectable finish once blended out. The concealer comes in a swivel up tube and is available in six shade selections. It’s rich and creamy quite thick as well so drier eyes will probably love it to death. I know mine do! I suggest moisturizing well prior to use and dabbing your concealer brush onto the tip and proceeding to apply under eyes. You can of course swipe directly from the tube but I think building with a concealer brush produces the best results. The creamy texture is buttery smooth and blends out fairly easily. It leaves behind a soft, supple finish that isn’t sticky or dewy. It pretty much hides ALL my woe including puffiness, finer lines, and darkness. My eyes are wide awake, fresh, and fatigue-free after a round with this concealer. I like how well it wears as even in humidity it has a strong hold that doesn’t cake or crease into my finer lines. I can get a solid six hours of wear from it and with some minor fading at hour seven.

At $32 Hourglass Hidden Corrective Concealer is a steal of a product and caters to a more mid-range pricing range when compared to more luxe higher end concealers that are priced at double and triple this amount. The creamy texture and pigmentation is a joy for aging eyes as it does an excellent job of creating flawlessness and perfection under eyes.

If you’re searching for that perfect luxurious concealer but aren’t want to dish out the cost for one I’d suggest Hidden Corrective Concealer! Luxury concealer just not at the price of one.

Loves it.

Karina, I want this, too! …and I have got to tell you, I LOVE your name – so much in fact, that I named my daughter that 14 years ago. The exact same spelling as your’s! I just had to tell you, since you don’t hear Karina very often. 🙂

  • Shelly

Couldn’t have said it better! I have very visible insomniac eyes and this product here has turned into my best friend! Does not create fine lines under my eyes which has been my problem with other concealers. And sets really nicely. Sucks when u hit the bottom of the tube and u see loads of product still there I usually scoop it out so I can get my full $32 worth. I still can’t believe I spend $32 on a concealer. But it’s money we’ll spent 😉

  • Jaz

Nope, will not be buying. Looks nice, but they clearly do NOT want my money since there are no shades for WOC.

  • Maggie

Muse, on the Hourglass website, there is no color for this concealer labeled “Light.” There is “Fair” and “Pearl” that is lighter than the shade “Natural.”

  • Carmen

Cle de Peau is a bigger size though with 0.17 ounces which is 5 grams while the Hourglass is 0.12 ounces which is 3.4 grams.

    • the Muse

cost per an oz is cheaper overall carmen plus you’re not getting a ton more for twice the amount you are paying…this is the better deal.

I LOVE my Cle de Peau concealer, but I’ll definitely check this out. Thanks for the review!

I like this a lot – I have Fair and Natural and alternate depending on my skin tone/season. The one I’ve had longer does smell a bit funky now – kinda like old crayons do if that makes any sense – but I still use it 😉

  • Lori

This looks promising! Do you have any opinions as to how it compares to Lancome Effernaces (I think I butchered that) as far as coverage goes?

  • Cj

Only way this could be better is if it was in their lip stylo packaging. Something about concealer pencils just call to me lol.

Ooooo that price looks painful, but it looks so nice! So creamy and perfect for dry skin under the eyes!

    Hi Muse!
This is AMAZING news – I’ve been wanting to try the Cle de Peau but wasn’t ready to shell out the $70. I’m already using and loving the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Underye concealer – would you say this one has knocked that off of your holy grail list, or is the IT concealer still holy grail?

    • the Muse

ooo no IT is still my main squeeze Melissa 😀 NO way am I giving it up hehe 😀 but this is def a nice way to get a feel for what CDP is like without dishing near $100 to get it ;-D I alternate between concealers but I admit I always go back to my beloved Bye Bye ;-D

  • Irene

That looks so nice! Sadly, the shade selection is way too small for me to find a match in it for my super duper pale skin 🙁

    • the Muse

irene, hourglass told me they’ll be an extended round of shades upcoming shortly. 🙂

Typically,. Hourglass products are waaay outside my budget, but whenever I have a gift card to use, I head straight for them. The quality just blows me away every time! Hourglass is definitely one of those “you get what you pay for” lines. Love!

I guess great beauty junkies think alike! I bought this also this week and am in love with it. I am concealer challenged, so this was next on my list to try. I use the beauty blender to dab it on and it’s gorgeous and not drying!!! I just also purchased the IT Bye Bye Undereye but have only tried it for one day. I look forward to good things from your review. I believe that between the two of these, they will become my standbys. Bye Bye Bad Concealers! thanks Muse for all your hard work. I really enjoy your reviews daily.

    • the Muse

yay lisa so glad to hear especially about the it concealer, it truly is one of my favs ;-D I really appreciate that and so glad you enjoy Musings ;-D

  • Lani

Hi Muse! This is my first time commenting on one of your reviews 🙂 I read this review and the review you did on Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage concealer. I’m not sure which one is better. Can you help? I’m mainly looking to cover blemishes.

    • the Muse

either would be great for covering blemishes lani but you might find the tarte one is a bit too emollient for your face so perhaps the Hidden Corrector would be a better pick! Hope this helps 🙂

I just got this on Monday and love it! It was definitely a splurge for me. I actually really wanted to get IT bye bye under eye concealer after reading your review, but I was iffy about shade selection from ordering online. I have a thing about base makeup where I have to be able to test it out or return it quickly if I don’t like it. It’s hard for me to find something to match my skin so I always need a tester. Haha I think I contemplated for a week about the IT concealer. Then I went through almost all of your concealer reviews for brands near me lol. I have naturally puffy under eyes but this definitely covers the darkness. You’re a life saver!
