Pond’s Cleansing Oil Review
Pond’s Cleansing Oil is a Japan exclusive (and available in a few other select Asian countries) and supposedly contains three plant oils that make up the base for a hydrating cleansing oil experience.
I always find it interesting that a basic product like Cleansing Oil is made so readily available from brands like Ponds and even Maybelline yet the US market never actually sees these products.
Let’s take a look!
Apparently the Pond’s Cleansing Oil isn’t made with mineral oil but I can’t confirm that. I did a little research and the oil base is made from lavender, Grape Seed, and and Cotton Seed oil. There’s no mention of mineral oil in the formula but again, I can’t confirm that. I did take note that lavender can sometimes prove an irritating oil for some skin types however, the addition of it does not add a strong scent to the oil so no worries for those sensitive to fragrance in their skincare as the fragrance here is very subtle and hardly noticeable.
If you’re going to indulge in a new cleansing oil I’d suggest skipping this. The oil is thicker and doesn’t emulsify as quickly as I would like. On top of that I come out of the cleansing with drier, tighter skin. Nothing a little moisturizer won’t cure but I’m not looking to add anymore dryness to my already dry skin thanks very much. On top of that I felt like my skin was particularly cleansed after and some makeup was left behind.
It works like any other cleansing oil in the fact you’re apply to a dry face with makeup on. Simply massage on, add a little water to emulsify, massage some more, and rinse away.
Overall, Pond’s Cleansing Oil isn’t exactly the best of the best budget cleansing oil out there. It might be more suitable for oily skin types as it does tighten and strip the oil from my face after use. Great for those with oily skin not so fab for those with drier skin unfortunately.
It’s available now, if you’re interested, for $10 at Sasa.com
