Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge Review
The Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge ($18) recently launched and I couldn’t be happier as it has made me a double cleanser lover. I have a few Konjac Sponges, they aren’t really a new beauty epidemic however, Boscia will likely make them a more wide spread phenomenon here in the US for those that aren’t terribly familiar with Asian beauty tools and products.
As much as I’d like to be a double cleaning person I’m not. When I get home at the end of the night I typically remove my eye makeup with an oil based eye makeup remover and proceed to follow up with a cleansing oil. Occasionally if I have the time I do a double cleanse. Double cleanses consist of cleansing first with a cleansing oil and following up with a lathering cleanser or foaming cleanser of some sort.
Konjac Sponges kinda make you a believer of double cleansing because they are great gentle exfoliating sponge that really get your face super squeaky clean.
Take a look!
The sponge fiber is made from a Amorphophallus konjac which is native to Asian countries. The Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge is made from 100% Asian Konjac Root which gives skin a most brighter, softer appearance after use. It has a very hard, dense texture and feels gritty out of the box. Wet it down and it becomes squishy, sponge-y, and almost jelly-like to me (like some sort of sponge from the bottom of the ocean!). Funny how it feels like a really hard piece of foam one minute and after water it has this squishy, soft texture!
Apparently the natural fiber of Konjac balances oil in skin and stimulates blood flow as you cleanse which leaves skin clean and exfoliated. It creates mounds of lather when I use it with a foaming facial cleanser and it gently exfoliates my skin as I use it. It isn’t gritty or harsh but the natural fibers from the sponge are gently whisking away dead skin with each and every use. Coming out of a double cleanse you can visibly see how much brighter and cleaner your skin is, it makes you question why you aren’t doing it every night (probably because I’m lazy).
The sponge has a small hanging rope and can be dripped dried after use. Once dry it feels hard as a rock again until your next use. You’ll need to replace it every 2 to 3 months but I would do so sooner if possible.
Using this daily you’ll notice, especially if you have drier, duller skin, how your complexion will look brighter, more radiant. The constant stimulation from the daily cleanse will get blood circulating thus promoting skin cell renewal.
I’ve used Konjac Sponges in the past but I’m delighted that Boscia now has one I can easily purchase whenever I hit up Sephora!
Loves this.
