Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick Review & Swatches

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick is a new luxurious matte lipstick created by the Poppy King, the Lipstick Queen herself. Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick is a completely new lipstick for the brand as it is a bit more upscale with a formula that’s incredibly complex, luxurious, and oh so beautiful.

I’m going to throw it out there and say this is the best matte lipstick I have ever had the pleasure of using!

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick ($50) will be available in five pigmented packed shades. The lipstick is formulated with dense pigments that glide onto lips like butter with a smooth, velvety formula and a luxurious, weightless matte finish. The texture isn’t drying, it isn’t tight, it barely feels like you’re wearing anything at all on your lips yet it still manages to provide completely opaque color on a single stroke.

As strongly as I dislike matte lipsticks or matte anything for that matter it comes as a great surprise how much I adore this lipstick. Truly a lot of love went into this formula. The lipstick packs incredible pigment which in turn provides a very dramatic and old Hollywood look. A new ingredient, Silicone Elastomer, makes Velvet Rope Lipstick glide lightly onto lips and requires very little pressure to get the color intensity you see in my swatches and look below. The formula is packed with moisturizing waxes as well as Apricot Oil and Vitamin E so lips remain moist and hydrated through the wear and the lipstick won’t flake up, tighten, or migrate around your mouth. I had no issues with color transferring, feathering, or taking a road trip around my mouth. Color wears strongly for a solid five hours without losing intensity and begins to show minor fading at hour six with a staining effect left behind just into the six and half hour point.

This is truly a stunning formula that isn’t to be missed if you’re a lipstick girl!

Lipstick Queen Velvet Rope Lipstick is a luxurious formula that will convert anyone to a matte finish lipstick. A formula like this will spoil you for all lipsticks that come after it!

I must be getting tired, because when I first read “Color wears strongly for a solid five hours…” I thought you actually said “Color wears strongly for a solid five YEARS!” XD
I was about to respond: OMG, it wears for HOW long? Incredible! Haha!
Muse, I think I’ll take a nap now.

dfstglop;dfghjkl;hj…. sorry, just wiping my drool off my keyboard. 🙂
The swatch looks absolutely divine! I want this lipstick so bad. More droooool. lol.

  • Veronica

This is the first time I’ve ever gotten sticker shock from Lipstick Queen – $50 USD is even higher than TF and Guerlain! I love me a good, matte red and some Lipstick Queen, but I’ll have to wait for these to hit stores before I dedicate myself to that kind of wallet abuse. XD

(It is a beautiful red, though! You look lovely. 🙂

    • the Muse

aw thanks veronica! YES! this is def a more luxe Lipstick Queen product 😀 believe me it is well worth the indulgence ;-D

  • breyerchic04

I really really want to say yes I will get one but I’m not sure I can manage it, that’s pretty far past my normal range for lipsticks.

  • Audrey H.

Thats a beautiful color and it sounds lovely but whew that is a lux price point. Thanks for the awesome review. 🙂

  • Stacy

It’s FRIDAY…..you need to go out tonight and ROCK that lipstick!! It looks amazing on you!!

    • the Muse

lol thanks stacy and you KNOW it! can’t wait for my weekend to start!

  • Tara

So pretty! I was hoping you would say we didn’t need it. I’m finding it easier and easier to justify expensive cosmetic purchases, especially lipstick. Oh well, we can have hamburger instead of steak for dinner, but that lipstick is a must buy.

  • Kaja Elisabeth

The packaging is gorgeous, but the color doesn’t seem all to special. Nothing I haven’t seen a million times before

    • the Muse

isn’t about the color so much as the formula kaja…that’s where the quality is.

  • Irene

Oh boy, it does look gorgeous, although at $50 it is way out of my budget even if I believe that it is worth it. Now it’ll be a matter of choosing between this lipstick or Guerlain Orgueil for Christmas 😀
