Maybelline Matte Brown Color Tattoo Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

Maybelline Matte Brown Color Tattoo

Maybelline Matte Brown Color Tattoo Eyeshadow is one of three limited edition, matte shades of Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow that released with their new Holiday 2013 Collection.

Far be it for me to rave matte eyeshadows but so far I’ve really loved all three of these shades. They are quite nice essential colors that many of you will likely use daily for prepping eyes, using on their own, or under your favorite shadows.

Take a look at some swatches and thoughts on Maybelline Matte Brown Color Tattoo Eyeshadow below.

I purchased Maybelline Matte Brown Color Tattoo Eyeshadow from Bed, Bath, and Beyond recently but I do picture it becoming available later this month at a wider selection of stores so don’t panic if you can’t find it right now.

This color is really brown to me it’s like a muddy taupe in my opinion but please feel free to correct me there because the shade is kinda unusual. At a glance I didn’t think I would like it but you can actually do quite a few looks with a color like this. It’s perfect for a smoky eye look or to use to prep eyes with to intensify the appearance of dark eyeshadow.

I’m very impressed with the texture on this and the other two shades Maybelline launched with this collection. It’s dense yet creamy and dries down quickly but still manages to give you plenty of time to blend it. It blends easily by the way with absolutely no tugging and color locks on to my drier eyes without creasing for a good seven to eight hours of wear. I was disappointed with the eight limited edition shades Maybelline released this Summer but I have absolutely no issues with this formula and overall, I’m very impressed. They need to keep this formula in mind when creating more shades in the future as I’m sure we’ll all be happy campers if they continue on with such a stellar texture.

Overall, Matte Brown is a sneaky little shade that looks kinda uneventful in the pot but promise you’ll find some use for it! Smoky eyes, as a base, or with a little liner smudged into your lash liner this color will likely get you through many a simple yet dramatic eye look!

Loves it.

Love it! Been looking for just this kind of matte, plus Nude Pink, very glad they’re earning Muse Approval 😀

I would have no idea what to do with a shade like this. To me it’s a blending shade but I would just make a mess of things if I tried to blend with a cream shadow like this. Everything looks so pretty on you when you have your gaze directed down… or maybe I’m just jealous of your lashes! 😉

    • the Muse

thanks cat 🙂 <3! it's super easy to use, blend and go not a lot to it 😀

  • Sara

You are right, it does almost look purples-taupe on your eyes. Btw, I love your necklace, very cute!

    • the Muse

aw thanks sara! 😀 it’s an odd shade, it swatches muddy chocolate, looks taupe-y in the pot, applies smoky on eyes…it’s strange 😀

Okay. I am sold. Why do these have to look so wonderful! All three appear to be useful in some way or another! I just hope I can find them somewhere. Thanks for great reviews.

  • kellly

I sure wish these would show up in my area already! I’ve been on the lookout for them. Since they’re LEs I know if I don’t get them the day they’re put on display it will be too late!

  • Dee

This looks great on you…how did you apply? Brush? Fingers? I don’t know if I could get it to look so smooth. Don’t have this one yet but am on the hunt.

  • Haley

Hey Muse, do you think this would be a good shade for filling in eyebrows? I’ve been considering trying the tough as taupe shade but now this seems like it might be a better option. Thoughts?

  • Aubri

For those on the northwest side of the US, I found all three of these in Fred Meyer’s cosmetic section with a bit of searching. (And bought them immediately.)

  • tracy n

would you kindly put the names and color codes of the fall 2013 maybelline tattoo color from the bottom on a note so i can look for them

  • Bridget

I have several of the ones from the metallic collection, they always become splotchy and crease, even with a primer! Any thoughts? The matte ones look smoother, maybe they won’t become splotchy?

  • Vanessa W

It’s beautiful! Can’t wait till they make their way to my local Target!

  • Lyn Cheapasf

This looks really similar to their Tough as Taupe, which I love, in your photos. I wonder if it is worth having both.

  • Sylvia

I was not even aware of Maybelline coming out with new Colour Tattoos. What a pleasant surprise! I’ll have to keep my eyes out.

  • Quinctia

I don’t think this is different enough from Tough as Taupe for me to hunt it down, though they’re obviously not dupes or anything. But since I often use TaT as a base for other neutrals, I don’t need another shade that leans towards taupe.

  • Danielle

they all look gorgeous on you! *-* ♥
are the other ones in the collection also good?

    • the Muse

thanks Danielle! You’re too kind. I reviewed each shade individually you can take a peek at them in the archives. Hope this helps!
