Stila Color Outside The Lines Smudge Stick Eyeliner Set

The Stila Color Outside the Lines Smudge Stick Eyeliner Set ($34) is a new five piece collection of Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliners in a collectible tint that will be available for a limited time with the Stila Holiday 2013 Collection.

Let’s take a look!

Stila packages up five full size Smudge Stick Eyeliners with the Color Outside the Lines Set and houses them in a reusable collectible tin. You get the following shades:

  • Emerald (green)
  • Navy (blue)
  • Aubergine (burgundy)
  • Stingray (black)
  • Lionfish (brown)

Lionfish happens to be one of my top eyeliner shades so I was happy to see it in this set! It quite reminds me of Pixi Copper Glow with more brown to it!

These are retractable eyeliners so no sharpener is needed here. Each swivels up and down easily for application. The set has essential shades like brown and black and also a few unusual ones like Emerald and Aubergine.

Smudge Sticks have a fairly good wear time on my drier eyes without smudging or flaking but they have a shorter wear time on my waterline with around three hours before fading. I tend to like these liners and own quite a few shades because they have such an easy to smudge formula that sets quickly.

The set is smaller compared to many massive Holiday Eyeliner Sets like Ocho Loco 2 or Tarte’s Eye Opening Eyeliner Gift Set. And some of the shades might prove a little challenging to use like Emerald which is more of a lighter pastel emerald versus a richer, more festive shade of emerald. Although the essential shades in this set like brown and black have a very creamy texture I found some of the colors such as Navy and Aubergine ran a bit drier.

So yes, there are some quirks here that might prevent some folks from indulging. However, if you’re a longer time fan of Stila Smudge Sticks you’ll find this an excellent value at $34 versus paying $20 per shade (which makes the set a value of $100).

The Stila Color Outside the Lines Set won’t be for everyone but fans will likely love this one.

It’s available now at stilacosmetics.com.

I bought last years set and have not regretted it once. Lovely liners if you like to smudge. I thought at first two of the shades were repeats, but I double checked and sure enough they are all different from last years set. Such a good deal, breaks down to about $7 each. For anyone looking for a cheaper dupe vs. the regular $20 a pop I find the PF shimmer strip liners are almost exactly the same, and if you like the shimmer the Avon glimmerstick diamonds are very close.. they just smudge out a bit more so you need an extra layer if you want the same pigmentation. They go on sale all the time for around $4.
