Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion Review & Swatches
I had to ask myself a few months ago if I really needed Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion. So I started obsessing over the fact that I had a slight line across the lid of one my eyes (possibly from sleeping on my stomach with my face smashed into the pillow. BIG NO people don’t do that! I can’t help it though, it’s my sleep position of choice! Note to self buy silk sheets, less eye wrinkles that way!). I think I might have invented the the line I’m not sure…I do that sometimes…believe me when you reach a certain age you’ll start analyzing every single pore, nook, cranny, and line on your face too.
So how anti-aging can a primer be?
Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion is $4 more than the original $20 version but it also promises that within eight weeks during a clinical study users saw an improvement in fine lines. So hey for four bucks extra I’d go with the anti-aging formula yes?
It apparently contains something called Dermaxyl that helps smooth the appearance of wrinkles and Kalpariane that plumps, firms, and hydrates skin as it improves suppleness and elasticity.
I admit…my eyes aren’t that aging yet that I’m seeing much of a difference when I use it…but if I’m preventing aging somehow, well, I’m happy with that.
I will say one thing….
Everyone complained, complained, complained about the genie packaging but I miss it. Since venturing into tube packaging I just don’t find myself using Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion as much as I once did. This used to be a staple product for me that I would never, ever apply eyeshadow without but I actually don’t use it as much since the packaging change.
The texture has a more slippery feel than the matte thinner consistency of the genie packaging. It also feels more like Too Faced Shadow Insurance now to me and I must admit I dislike TFSI with a passion. Luckily it doesn’t have the odd separation issue I’ve run across with TFSI. It blends easily onto my lids however, the slippery formula seems to not really help my shadows lock down and I end up seeing creasing within a four to five hour period where as the old formula held strong for a solid 12 hours. Funny enough Urban Decay never actually claimed the formula changed but users of the old version versus the new can tell in my opinion…..!
Sigh…!
The moral of the story is if you’re already a Primer Potion user might as well splurge the extra money for an anti-aging formula! Who knows it might benefit you in the future….but those who miss the old packaging and what feels like a reformulated Primer Potion might not feel the need to indulge.
Do you like the tube formula?
Or do you miss the old genie bottle formula?
