Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara

Meet the new Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara ($28) a new high drama formula with kohl pigments that builds volume and creates extremely black lashes to pair up with your favorite smokey eye looks.

Take a peek!

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara doesn’t really appear any different than many other Bobbi Mascaras….at a glance I thought it looked much like Bobbi Brown Extreme Party Mascara!

Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara 3

This has a traditional bushy brush without any bells and whistles. It’s actually the formula that’s a rave here. The formula is very creamy and doesn’t leave lashes stiff or crunchy after application. A single application actually yields fantastic results. My lashes fuller and the formula lends a good deal of length to my already long lashes. I’m always looking for a mascara that isn’t a one trick pony and this does well multitasking with both good length and very nice volume. My lashes look fuller and fatter with a single application. The mascara formula doesn’t smudge or flake on my drier eyes.

It doesn’t hold curl very well nor does it curl lashes so I do suggest curling lashes prior for the best results.

As Bobbi’s biggest fan girl I’m always a little disappointed with her mascara formula but Smoky Eye Mascara is quite nice! Bigger, fatter lashes and quite a good deal of length lent drama to my lashes.

Your lashes look amazing with this mascara! I actually have a sample of this mascara but haven’t tried it yet. I will tomorrow after your review!

I have such a hard time with mascara. I usually settle with what stays on versus what produces drama. This does both! Thank goodness because I love some drama on my eyes!

Muse, have you ever thought of putting your mascara “after” photos together so we can easily compare each mascara? Since you always take the same angle and I don’t recall seeing much eyeshadow or eyeliner, I think it would be a true comparison of each different product? Then everyone could easily see which they might prefer – volumizing or lengthening or curling, based on how they look compared to others. Just a thought 🙂 Love your site and all of your reviews!

hi melissa…I’m confused. You want me to put all the mascara’s I’ve tried into one photo? thanks so much glad you love Musings 🙂

      • Melissa

Yep! I just think it would be interesting to see They’re Real next to Better than Sex next to Bobbi’s Smokey, etc. The fact that they’re on the same eye at the same angle would totally show me exactly which mascara does what and make it easy to compare and contrast them! I’ve always wondered what the *real* difference of all the mascaras is on my eyes – but never think to photograph each one to compare – and never actually have enough of them at the same time! (of course it’s just a suggestion!)

would be kinda hard to take every single mascara I own and compare them in a single review..perhaps look up in the archives and compare to previous images? hope this helps!?

Dear Muse, I purchased Bobbi’s Smokey Eye Mascara at your suggestion at Nordie’s recent “buy two, get one” mascara event. I agree that this mascara both enhances volume and length of lashes, and the deep black color is divine. My bff commented on how great my eyes looked, but couldn’t figure out what I had done differently until I told her. My only quibble is that, alas, the mascara does smudge on me after about three hours. Will you recommend some sort of mascara sealer that I could apply after BB’s mascara to prevent smudging?

As always thank you so much for your suggestions and reviews.

Thanks so much dear Muse. I am a Muse devotee! I clicked on your suggestion and Bare Minerals sealer is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks again!
PS I read a few comments about hard-to-remove mascara and sealer. Here’s a trick I’ve discovered to remove eye makeup and save money at the same time. I first remove my eye makeup with Neutragena’s eye makeup remover (only around $8.0!) It removes all eye makeup very well, but it does leave my eyes feeling a bit bleary. Then I do one pass with either Lancôme or Clarin’s eyemakeup remover to remove any trace of the Neutragena. This way the expensive Clarin’s or Lancôme remover lasts a long time.

aw my pleasure susannah 🙂 quite flattered! 😀 oh hey! that’s actually an awesome tip! I love bi-facil but it is expensive $$$! so using another makeup remover followed up with bi-facil will indeed save money! HA! awesome sauce chica 😀 Happy T-day!
