Chanel La Precieuse Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick Review & Swatches
Chanel La Precieuse Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick ($43) is a traditional matte red lipstick for the Holidays that launched with the Chanel Nuit Infinie de Chanel Holiday 2013 Collection. It’s a pretty vivid shade and very similar to MAC Ruby Woo in color and texture but with a lighter feel.
Let’s take a look!
Chanel La Precieuse Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick is a vivid blue based red lipstick with a matte finish. I tend to lean towards more warmer reds for myself but I admit I really like this shade even if I can’t wear it. A single pass leaves behind full opaque coverage and the wear is very strong at around six hours before it fades a bit and leaves a pleasant staining effect behind. For a matte it has a surprisingly creamy texture that feels weightless on lips with a pleasant velvety texture and finish.
I do experience some dryness over time with Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick though so around hour four I kinda start feeling like my lips are drying up and in need of some gloss or lip balm. The shade, although bold, didn’t migrate or feather for me which is a plus because bright reds like this end up everywhere for me…my cheeks, my forehead, my upper lips…seriously, red likes to take a road trip around my face. But thankfully I experience none of that with this!
Chanel La Precieuse Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick is a more traditional red for a classic Holiday look! You should like it if you wear blue based reds well.
