Today I have a slight obsession with the Dior Golden Flower 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette ($60) which is one of two limited edition palettes that launched with the Dior Golden Winter Holiday 2013 Collection.

I have to admit I think I blended it out to a near perfect finish this morning! It was such a great eyeshadow palette filled with complimentary shades that you won’t feel overwhelmed about using ALL five in a single look (sometimes I get panicky when someone hands me a palette and expects me to use five different shadows in one look! OMG crazzeee!).

Take a look!

Dior Golden Flower 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette features five warmer shades of eyeshadow with a pinky peach shade (love this color wish they did it as a single), a beige ivory, a glittery gold, a golden brown, and chocolatey reddish brown.

The shades were actually bone dry and I got a little worried this would prove a disaster but they actually apply very well with excellent pigmentation and a soft, satiny finish. I tend to get a good deal of frost from the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palettes but this palette had a very easy to use formula. I used my new Coastal Scents Smoky Eyes Brush Set to create my look and I had very little fall out issues (just a bit with the middle glittery gold shade) and although dry the colors blended out beautifully. I was surprised as at first they seem dry but they go softer as you blend. They wear excellent as well without creasing, fading, or losing intensity (I tested without eyeshadow primer).

I love the classic smoky brown eye look the shades create and just a touch of pretty gold glitter brings it into the festive zone! It’s such a traditional, essential shadow palette but still manages to give off a festive feel as well!

If you love nude, natural smoky brown looks the Dior Golden Flower 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette contains the perfect selection of complimentary shades to create the look in minutes.

I bought Golden Snow, but I really want this one too! Golden Snow is so pretty. Are you getting that one too?

    • the Muse

I am Jamie I actually already have it! haven’t tried it yet but I LOVED golden flower 😀 Hope I feel about Golden Snow!

Looks good, Muse. I envy you those big, beautiful eyes to work with! I finally had to give up on Dior eye palettes; too much shimmer and glitter for these 57 yr old eyes. I do have one I still use (can’t remember the name) that is neutrals like camel, brown, bronze, etc. It is the only one I’ve retained because it has little to no shimmer. Which is damn hard to find in Dior. Finally gave all the rest of mine away. Enjoy these while you can, this looks great on you 🙂

for me it is mostly the frost factor with dior palettes! I look awful in frost! ugh! but this one was beautiful! I understand though! I do dread the day I won’t be able to do shimmers anymore 🙁 right now I see some wrinkles when smiling and I wonder if shimmer/sparkle might accentuate that 🙁 thanks Deb!

Don’t worry, it will be a long time before you have to worry about that 🙂 The fine lines and so forth that you notice are likely not even visible to others. We are, after all, our own worst critics. I certainly don’t notice them in your pics. And even when the glitter and high shimmer gets to the point where you have to reconsider it, there are so many wonderful eyeshadows out there without the frost factor but that still have “livable” shimmer and life. Which I’m sure, as the prolific blogger you are, you already know. Right now, I’m finding the Laura Mercier shadows to be terribly forgiving on these older eyes. Unlike you, I love me some matte eyeshadow, but the LM shimmer ones somehow just work on older skin. And I’m getting the same results with my shimmery ones from Rouge Bunny Rouge. I guess it’s just all in the formula, huh?

i sure hope so deb 😀 hehehe! we are indeed! I agree totally! I’m sure in my old age Bobbi will still be a girl’s best friend 😀 I think it really is as shimmer can really be hardcore but some brands do it JUST right 😀

I’ve seen a few photos showing you with frost/twinkle on your eyes and I think it looks lovely on you! I think it’s a matter of personal taste. I can never get enough twinkle and shimmer, altho I do use mattes sometimes.
I’m loving that white shimmer/twinkle but a Dior pallette is really out of my budget, particularly since I’m saving up for the Nudes 3!!! 😉

oh i love shimmer just not frost kellly 😀 but thanks :–DDD OHHH yeah time to get naked girl it is online NOW grab it before it sells out!

Very pretty! I passed on this one and went for Golden Snow instead because the colors were just so pretty: silvery lavender/purple, pale pink, sparkly gold–who could resist!

It’s my first Dior palette, and I guess I’m a bit taken aback by the frostiness. Based on what you say, seems like it’s a common texture in their eyeshadows. I love shimmer, sparkle, glitter, metallics–you know name it!– but the one thing I just cannot do is frost. I want to wear the purply color on my lids during the day, but because it’s frosty, I feel like it’s too much. Looks gorgeous at night, though! All in all, I feel like I can only wear it at night, which makes $60 so hard to swallow. LOL!

It’s good to hear that Golden Flower is not frosty, so maybe I’ll pick that one up instead.

Have you seen promo pics of the spring palettes? Pretty!

    • the Muse

I haven’t tried that one yet Christina but curious to do so 😀 frost is common in Dior palettes I find a lot of blending gets the finish perfect. I can’t do frost either don’t feel bad I feel aged when I do! YOU should it is really pretty 😀 once of my fav dior palettes to date!
      I have aren’t they stunning!?

  • Heidi

Pretty. What I’m really loving, though, is that shade of lipstick you’re wearing. Care to share?

Looks b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l on you!! I’m so happy you got blogger of the month by IT Cosmetics! I love your blog I’m on it everyday:)

  • SirenPrincess

This is absolutely beautiful on you! I know I’m getting Rosy Tan for Christmas, but I really love this one too!

    • the Muse

thanks siren! possibly my fav dior palette ever 😀 you might have to ask santa for it too! hehe!

  • telle

ugh :/ i need this. 🙁 i wasn’t planning on it….after these swatches though…i need it, like REALLY need it. its a nice refreshing change after a couple of years of very heavy gold themes with dior to have something different….annnnd it leaves me with needing it. *lol* Thanks, Muse! 😉 <3

Ugh, how I want this beauty! but I realized the pink/peach, ivory, and bronze are so similar to Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells, plus the Too Faced color I use all the time (Exotic in Enchanted Garden) and then a shimmery gold I probably wouldn’t use much… sigh, I’m being too practical 😉
