Guerlain Illusion Rouge Automatique

Guerlain Illusion (660) Rouge Automatique ($35) is one two limited edition Rouge Automatique Lipstick shades introduced with the Guerlain Crazy Paris Holiday 2013 Collection.

Illusion is a shade of lipstick I’d likely skip over at first glance but it’s such a unique shade and rather fun for the Holidays versus festive you might just love it.

Take a peek!

Guerlain Illusion (660) Rouge Automatique

Guerlain Illusion (660) Rouge Automatique ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a sparkling fuchsia plum. The shade isn’t full opaque and has some translucency when applied but layering it and building the color up produces the best color pigmentation. The color has a soft luminous shine on lips with a comfortable, lightweight finish that doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything at all.

The packaging is an updated version of the Guerlain Rouge Automatique Lipstick as instead of the gold casing this is a glossy black with very fun tangerine accents. Although not very fitting with Guerlain’s more elegant look so some might feel it’s a bit too playful. Others, like myself, might enjoy the fact that Guerlain stepped outside of their elegant image for a brief moment and time and had a little fun with their Holiday Collection this year!

As I said I wouldn’t typically go for a shade like this but paired with a smokier eye look it does work and will be extra flattering on tanned and darker skin tones! There’s plenty of sparkle here as well if you love the finish and the color looks like a rather stunning, sultry shade of purple you’d wear out for Halloween versus the Holidays. But as I said it’s sometimes fun to veer away from traditional golds and reds for the Holidays! Although sparkly this doesn’t translate to a gritty texture. The lipstick has a smooth beautiful consistency and remains virtually weightless on lips with a strong wear of four to five hours without eating to drinking.

Needless to say Guerlain always pleases with their Rouge Automatique formula!

This is available now on counters.

Guerlain is an evil, evil brand!! Such beautiful and amazing products… such a HIGH price tag! I have two of the perles, including this year’s limited edition one (they just had to say “crazy Paris” and I was sold!), the perfecting primer, and this beautiful Illusion lipstick. (See? I told you I can’t buy anything else until springtime. Now you understand why!)

And, yes… YOU are 100% responsible for my purchase of this lipstick! I saw it on you and I knew my life wouldn’t be complete without it! Ready to laugh? When I first took it out of the box, I didn’t know how to “open” the lipstick! LOL I just stared at it for a few minutes… then the logic center of my brain kicked in and it all made since!

It’s a very nice lipstick that feels good on. It reminds me A LOT of my YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks. Very silky, smooth feeling, and light, too, which is a big plus if you’re like me and don’t like the feel of most lipsticks. I just wish it looked as good on me as it does on you. I’m so fair that it’s quite dramatic on me! But it’s so awesome that I’m forcing myself to expand my comfort zone to accommodate it! LOL
