Shiseido Fullmake Washable Base Review & Swatches
Shiseido Fullmake Washable Base was released earlier last Spring in Japan and is the first washable makeup base. What’s this mean? Basically it allows you to wash away your makeup with warm water, nothing else! Shiseido Fullmake Washable (FWB) frees the makeup user from the hassle of removing makeup as this new primer will transform your cleansing routine by allowing your makeup to become easier to remove without the need of anything else but warm water.
Crazy right?
I use eye makeup remover, cleansing oil, and follow up with a foaming cleanser and sometimes a scrub as well so perhaps three to four products a night to remove my makeup. Imagine a simple base you apply prior to your makeup that allows you to use water to remove it at the end of the night. How much money and time would you save?
Let’s take a look at the Shiseido Fullmake Washable Base!
Shiseido Fullmake Washable Base is a creamy moisturizing primer that’s a pale yellow almost white shade. The primer is nicely hydrating and eases the way for my foundation. Shiseido actually created it with a brightening powder so it lightly evens out my complexion and eases dullness creating a smooth, brighter appearance. It’s suggested to use two pearl size amounts when applying, I used about this much myself maybe a little over! The primer does apparently allow foundation to wear longer and fresher since I got a solid six hours out of regular foundation without a problem.
The base of the primer was created with a Shiseido developed ingredient called Veil Action Polymer which is what allows foundation, eyes, and even lip products to easily wash away using simply water.
There isn’t anything special you need to do with the primer, simply apply it as the first step in your makeup application and you’re ready to apply your foundation, eye makeup, etc…..
I didn’t try it on my lips however, I did apply it all over my face and I closed my eyes and patted it onto my lids and around my lash line as I was curious how it would do removing powder eyeshadow and cream eyeliner.
It actually does do exactly what it says it will do. At the end of the night all I need is warm water to remove my makeup. Now…I did learn that it will not remove waterproof or even regular mascara very well! It’ll remove foundation, blush, even eyeliner, and powder eyeshadow easily! But waterproof/regular mascara it will not work with so when you go in to clean your face you’ll find streaks of mascara running down your face.
Below I removed Urban Decay Perversion on my arm with a cotton pad soaked in water….as you can see it still shows an imprint of the liner after scrubbing hard.
Below I applied the primer and proceeded to apply Urban Decay Perversion eyeliner on my arm. I soaked another cotton pad in water and swiped it across my arm and it removed easily without any scrubbing and no imprint remains!
You simply have to dab water onto your face and press it lightly with your palms to remove your makeup. I also massage my face gently as I go in circular motions. The warm water breaks makeup easily! I follow up with a damp wash cloth as well to get everything off.
This is a more convenient product for those that wear lighter makeup. I really liked it because it could potentially save money as well as time but I tend to wear mascara and this isn’t exactly user friendly when it comes to removing it.
Shiseido Fullmake Washable Base is an excellent way to remove makeup quickly plus getting the added benefit of an excellent primer that preps skin beautifully for makeup while allowing foundation to wear longer. If you wear light weight makeup and perhaps no mascara I see it becoming an HG (holy grail) makeup primer.
