Keeping Hair Healthy and Full with Aveda Invati
Hair, our crowning glory. You know what the funny thing is about my beauty regime? I’ll spend literally tons of time with skincare and most mornings at least 10 to 20 minutes applying makeup but I am so no nonsense when it comes to my hair. My hair is super long and wavy, so in the morning I just like scooping it back into a bun and getting it away from my face for the work day. I envy those that take super good care of their locks and I know some of you are probably as obsessed with haircare products as I am with makeup and skincare. Do we have any hair product junkies out there?! The moral of the story is you should take some time out to give your hair a little TLC by keeping it healthy, thicker and fuller (Im trying to follow my own advice).
Taking care of your hair is just as important as your skin, nails, etc…
First step to maintaining healthy hair is to definitely avoid tangles. Don’t tug your hair when you brush it. Invest in a wide tooth comb especially if you have longer hair. For the longest time I’d step out of the shower and attack my hair like I was fighting for my life with a brush. I started gently combing through it with a wide tooth comb several years ago and I’ll never go back to normal brushing again. I see less breakage this way and the comb actually refines my hair.
And for those with thinning hair you definitely need to give your hair a little more love. Aveda Invati™ is a system of haircare products that reduces hair loss due to brekage by up to 33%, after just 12 weeks. Phew! Much less hair in the comb! The Aveda Invati™ Exfoliating Shampoo cleanses hair and exfoliates the scalp with a wintergreen-derived salicylic acid. To help achieve healthy hair, the shampoo actually removes build-up of product residue that can clog pores. I follow up by using Aveda Invati™ Thickening Conditioner that weightlessly thickens hair from within. Its a conditioner with a thinner consistency so I feel like it leaves a lot less residue behind – residue that would typically drain the life from my hair.
I typically use a tiny bit of gel in my hair but Aveda Invati™ Scalp Revitalizer is replacing that. It’s a thin serum with a beautiful herbal scent that I can rub gently into my scalp to optimize and keep the hair I have longer*. The blend of Vitamin E, Ayurvedic herbs, including turmeric and ginseng help rehabilitate the scalp around the follicles when massaged in.
Keep things simple at the end of the night especially for those with thin hair so leave it down or tie it up in a loose pony tail and don’t sleep with it wet. I always find heading to bed with my hair wet and tied in a tight pony tail means I’m shedding like a cat in the morning and looking like a hairball. Wet hair equals tangles and breakage so make sure it is completely dry prior to sleeping!
Maintaining our hair is as important a job as maintaining the rest of our bodies so a little tender, loving care using the right haircare will allow us to keep our hair in healthy, fuller shape for years to come.
The Aveda Invati™ system helps those with thinner hair to achieve the look and appearance of thicker, fuller hair while reducing breakage and preventing build up on scalps. For those interested in the Aveda Invati™ System you can try out a free sample of the entire range (three products valued at $11.50) that includes three 10ML samples of the Invati™ Shampoo, Conditioner, and Revitalizer with any $30 Aveda.com purchase using code INVATITRIO at invati.aveda.com.
