Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer Review & Swatches
Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer is a new chubby concealer pencil much like the recently released L’Oreal Super Blendable Crayon Concealer. Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer get an early launch for Spring 2014 online and in stores (I got mine at Harmons and you can also check Soap.com for most of the newest CoverGirl Spring 2014 products with 30% Off your purchase) in six different shade selections.
Take a look!
Although L’Oreal Super Blendable Crayon Concealer get some fairly good reviews I wasn’t really impressed with it. Josie Maran Argan Infused Creamy Chubby Concealer is another pencil concealer that left me with a poor taste in my mouth.
I think the name says it all here, Fixstick. Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer is a nice quick fix when you’re in a hurry but not something I’d recommend for daily use if you suffer from severe dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, or just tired old eyes.
I have some darkness but I want my concealer to conceal puffiness, finer lines, and just general tiredness. I also want it to work at brightening up and refreshing under my eyes unfortunately this doesn’t really do all that.
I purchased Medium (5-7) and Light (5-7) neither of which was a good match for me. Medium 5-7 is actually lighter than you might think so it was a bit better than the Light 5-7 however, I wish it was a touch lighter!

These have a creamy consistency but L’Oreal’s are actually a bit more hydrating so these do run drier in that case I recommend prepping well with moisturizer if you’re prone to drier under eye issues like myself. Each is a swivel up design so no sharpener is needed. They have a subtle odd scent, sort of chemically/cardboard but it isn’t something incredibly terrible.
I’d probably like them more if they weren’t so sheer. I applied a good deal but during the blending process they sheer out considerably. If you’re younger and have less to cover you might think these are super. But as you get older and you’re eyes mature you’ll need a bit more coverage than these provide. The wear time is rather short as well with the concealer not necessarily creasing but just fading away within a three hour period.
If you’re awesome with L’Oreal’s version I don’t think you need to make the switch to Covergirl Tru Blend Fixstick Concealer, just stick with the product that works for you. If you disliked L’Oreal’s version chances are you won’t like Covergirl’s either. These are, as they say, a Fixstick which for me translates as a really quick concealer application and go! Nothing that will hold you together for the day but just enough coverage to swipe under your eyes and head to the store for errands, etc…but not something you’ll want to wear through an important day or date.
Shrug…
I’d skip ’em!
