Em The Great Cover Up Concealer Review & Swatches

Em The Great Cover Up Concealer

Em The Great Cover Up Concealer ($19) is a new creamy concealer available in an eight shade selections that I recently purchased for myself. You know me, total concealer h0r!

One thing about this concealer is it is costly at $19 for a 0.3 oz of product. It’s concentrated yes, but not nearly as much as other concealers I own which are far larger and around the same price tag.

Let’s take a look and see if it is worth the price!

I purchased two shades in Em The Great Cover Up Concealer one of which was Light Neutral and the other was Medium Neutral both of which were excellent shades for my skin tone. The thing is Light and Medium actually didn’t have a ton of difference to them and almost looked like the same exact color….! The good news is I really like how there shade selection works at Em Cosmetics. They have both neutral, warm, and cool shade selections which is such a rarity with makeup as I’m forever always trying to guess my correct undertone…am I neutral, am I warm, cool? I always feel like I’m between warm and cool….! Needless to say it is challenging to find a shade that’s an exact match for any woman or man using makeup. I just felt like at my first shot out with this concealer I found a perfect match and that’s rare.

Light Neutral and Medium Neutral

The thicker, creamy formula feels like it has a built in primer of sorts as it seems to fill lines and blur their appearance as I apply. It has a smooth, easy, glide, and blends out very easily during application without being drying but not being very hydrating either. The application was very fuss-free for me and I didn’t feel I had to endlessly prep my dry eyes prior to applying to avoid creasing or poor application that involved tugging. Coverage was fairly good with sheer to medium pigmentation depending how much was applied. A reader commented recently saying someone reviewed this on youTube stating it would conceal tattoos. I fear that’s not the case my friends. But it will indeed conceal darker circles very well and neutralize them (or at least the beige undertones in the two shades I tried helped to diffuse the look of darkness) while covering up puffiness and fine lines and brightening up your eyes.

I admit, I’m surprised.

The brand is fairly new and fairly expensive too (ouch on some of the palette prices) and Em The Great Cover Up Concealer is kinda small for the price but I’m going to say that I actually like this just as much as I do my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer. If you didn’t like the more emollient texture of Bye Bye Undereye you’ll actually really adore the Great Cover Up Concealer because it has excellent concealing power, doesn’t crease, and wears strongly for a solid eight hours.

This is good stuff.

I believe it was Michelle herself who drew something on her arm with a sharpie and proceeded to cover it up with this concealer… I think she put a huge amount of on it on top of the sharpie doodle and set it with a powder lol but yeah in reality we wouldnt want that much on our face.. I think you might be able to find the video on her own channel or her EM channel on youtube… It was the one about the EM store opening 😮

Sounds good. I love the It Cosmetics concealer but it’s too dark for me, even the lightest shade.

Hey Musey- Have u tried All About Eyes Rich eye cream by Clinique? You probably have, but I just wanted to check cuz You always mention ur super dry undereyes, & mine are exactly the same. I’ve tried hundreds of eye creams from every brand imagine able, & I always come back to that one–it moisturizes amazingly for me & has awesome ingredients.

I’m so glad you mentioned how you never know if you’re warm or cool toned, because I feel like I’m CONSTANTLY going back and forth between one or the other! You are not alone in that plight, my friend! I am also obsessed with concealers and after seeing that this is Muse-approved, this has made my “must purchase ASAP” list. 🙂

ditto, people think I’m crazy! My face is actually a shade or two lighter than the skin on my body…I’m always going to the counter and getting recommended orange warm shades or sometimes I go and they give me shades that are TOO cool…it’s really a chore to find just the right shades 🙁 aww flattered!!!!!!!!!! I hope you like it! update me when you do try!

Michelle Phan has a clip of her covering a heart on her wrist that she drew with a sharpie marker posted on her Instagram. You’ll have to scroll back a bit to find it, but it’s there somewhere!

Hello! What Mac shade are you? 🙂 Need a reference as to which colour I should get!

Just checking with you, this concealer seems to no longer be available?Neither the EM website or Amazon has it for sale.

Em discontinued their entire line of product and they started a new line. Unfortunately, the line only included eyeliner and liquid lipsticks. I don’t know if in the future they plan to re-release this. I hope so but unfortunately, I don’t have any further info!
