Em The Great Cover Up Concealer Review & Swatches
Em The Great Cover Up Concealer ($19) is a new creamy concealer available in an eight shade selections that I recently purchased for myself. You know me, total concealer h0r!
One thing about this concealer is it is costly at $19 for a 0.3 oz of product. It’s concentrated yes, but not nearly as much as other concealers I own which are far larger and around the same price tag.
Let’s take a look and see if it is worth the price!
I purchased two shades in Em The Great Cover Up Concealer one of which was Light Neutral and the other was Medium Neutral both of which were excellent shades for my skin tone. The thing is Light and Medium actually didn’t have a ton of difference to them and almost looked like the same exact color….! The good news is I really like how there shade selection works at Em Cosmetics. They have both neutral, warm, and cool shade selections which is such a rarity with makeup as I’m forever always trying to guess my correct undertone…am I neutral, am I warm, cool? I always feel like I’m between warm and cool….! Needless to say it is challenging to find a shade that’s an exact match for any woman or man using makeup. I just felt like at my first shot out with this concealer I found a perfect match and that’s rare.
Light Neutral and Medium Neutral
The thicker, creamy formula feels like it has a built in primer of sorts as it seems to fill lines and blur their appearance as I apply. It has a smooth, easy, glide, and blends out very easily during application without being drying but not being very hydrating either. The application was very fuss-free for me and I didn’t feel I had to endlessly prep my dry eyes prior to applying to avoid creasing or poor application that involved tugging. Coverage was fairly good with sheer to medium pigmentation depending how much was applied. A reader commented recently saying someone reviewed this on youTube stating it would conceal tattoos. I fear that’s not the case my friends. But it will indeed conceal darker circles very well and neutralize them (or at least the beige undertones in the two shades I tried helped to diffuse the look of darkness) while covering up puffiness and fine lines and brightening up your eyes.
I admit, I’m surprised.
The brand is fairly new and fairly expensive too (ouch on some of the palette prices) and Em The Great Cover Up Concealer is kinda small for the price but I’m going to say that I actually like this just as much as I do my It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer. If you didn’t like the more emollient texture of Bye Bye Undereye you’ll actually really adore the Great Cover Up Concealer because it has excellent concealing power, doesn’t crease, and wears strongly for a solid eight hours.
This is good stuff.
