Lancome Dreamtone Review & Swatches

musings

I feel like we spend way too much time concentrating on things we don’t like about ourselves. I know I’m always complaining about the puffiness under my eyes! Everyone is going to run into at least one thing (or maybe even several things) we dislike about ourselves. Maybe its oily skin, maybe dark spots, perhaps an uneven complexion, or problematic skin or even too short legs or frizzy hair! We all have that one thing we dislike about ourselves but we shouldn’t have to apologize for those things. Always be comfortable in your own skin and be happy with who you are because any of the small issues you’re stressing over are likely overpowered by several hundred GOOD things.

And thankfully the things that we dislike are easily fixable! Like my puffy eyes are easily concealed with a good concealer and a pat of powder! Phew!

As for skin issues such as darkness, uneven skin tone or color imperfects products like Lancome Dreamtone aid you in being more comfortable in your own skin.

Lancome Dreamtone (1)

Lancome DreamTone is the next generation in dark spot correction. This is a customized skin tone correcting serum that’s so powerful 72% of women had courage enough bare their skin and go makeup less after treatment.* The new Lancome DreamTone is a barely-tinted serum formulated to visibly correct dark spots, color imperfections for a more even skin tone which comes in 3 serums, 1 customized for your skin tone. The serum is available in Fair, Medium, and Dark simply choose the shade closest to your own natuaral skin tone!
After use women experienced glowing skin, more even skin done, and even a disappear of dark spots as well as a reduction in color imperfections (studies are based on global self-assessments of women of multiple ethnicities in an 8-week study).

I’ve been personally using Lancome Dreamtone in the medium tone for nearly four weeks now. It’s a thinner consistency serum with a gel-like texture that absorbs easily into skin. It’s pale pink in color and has a little hint of shimmer to it. No worries about the shimmer as once applied I’m not seeing any glow or sparkly finish. I’ve actually only been using it in my nightly regime and experience fairly good results. It is recommended for twice a day use and I actually just recently incorporated it into my daily skincare regime as well as my nightly one. I use a ton of product so actually having to add one more to my list was a little intimidating but this is so lightweight you really won’t mind using it prior to any other skincare in your line up.

Lancome Dream Tone

It doesn’t really hydrate or moisturizer skin but what it does excel at is treating skin. I have some minor darkness, sun damage on my jaw line, I sometimes refer to it as hyperpigmentation but this possibly the wrong definition for it because really it is only darkness. I’ve lightened the area up considerably with a variety of products so I didn’t notice much difference in the area when using Lancome Dreamtone. What do I notice is that it restores the glow to my lackluster skin. I have duller skin and the effects of Lancome Dreamtone and what I’d experience from an over the counter retinol in the fact it gives me my glow back and brightens up my entire complexion. For someone experiencing dullness like myself this is incredible. My skin looks brighter, healthier, thus giving me a more
rested, youthful appearance. This is the type of product that will make you comfortable in your own skin!

Lancome Dreamtone Swatches (1)

I’m pretty comfortable in my bare skin and I don’t apologize for any of my flaws and neither should you. But I’m not averse to using skincare, makeup, or other beauty products to make those imperfections look better. Lancome Dreamtone takes my already good skin and makes it look even better.

Lancome Dreamtone is $98 and available for purchase at your favorite Lancome counters or online at lancome.com.

What imperfections worry you the most?

Are you happy in your bare skin?

Is this along the lines of Pixi Glow Tonic which I am loving? BTW, you look gorgeous in your selfie.

    • Isabella Muse

mm I haven’t tried glow tonic but dreamtone is a serum not a toner so def different! Thanks Karin 🙂

  • Lacy

Wow!!!!! Muse you are stunning in the picture!! You are absolutely gorgeous…. My jealously called, it wants it’s self esteem back! I’m so used to seeing you with headbands on to show of products for reviews. This picture just floored me! Love it!!!!

  • Dita

Whoa muse, you have really beautiful skin! Thankfully, like you, I feel comfortable in my bare skin (as long as I’m clothed, lol)
Anywho, as I have heard from someone (can’t remember who):”natural is beautiful but makeup is glam!”

    • Isabella Muse

lol dita I hear ya I hear ya lol! Please cover my wobbly bits up hehe 😀 and thanks!!!!!!!!! amen sis 🙂

    • Maggie

Thanks for this quote! I’m going to have to remember that! =)

      And Muse, you look beautiful!

  • Ashley

I’ve tested this at a counter and although it is a neat product, and felt wonderful going on, I couldn’t get over the $98 price tag. Suddenly I didn’t want it so bad.

    • Deb

I’m with you Ashley. I tested this at Sephora and it felt wonderful when applied. But IMHO, the price is just too high for a serum. There are so many out there that perform very well for much less. Le sigh….I’m just getting burned out on the ever increasing ridiculous price of skin care.

  • Sera

I never saw you with your hair down before! And I’ve been reading your blog for a whileee lol. You look so pretty/different! ( not that you weren’t pretty before;) )
    But $100 OUCH

  • indie

I’ve been curious about this for a while, so it was helpful to read your thoughts. Also, that first picture of you is just stunning.

    • Isabella Muse

indie, it’s actually really good…I wanted it to treat my dark spots but didn’t quite work but the brightening is AWESOME! and that’s def something I look for in my skincare ;-D and thanks btw 🙂 you’re too kind!

  • Deb

Muse, you are so adorable with your hair down. You look like a teenager and a Bottecilli painting

    • TwirlyGirly

OMG, that was *exactly* my thought when I saw the picture – Botticelli!! GMTA!

Ms. Muse – you look like an angel. I’m convinced you have wings and a halo, but because it’s a closeup, they’re not visible.

If that’s just a quick selfie you snapped, you REALLY should have it printed and framed.

      You. Look. GORGEOUS.

PLEASE consider wearing your hair down instead of covered by those crocheted bands you’re so fond of, when taking pictures for the blog of whatever product you’re wearing for review. I suspect you cover your hair because you don’t want it to distract from the product, but remember most people who are going to be purchasing the product aren’t going to be covering their hair when they’re wearing it. So, with your hair down you’ll be giving a better idea of what a product looks like in a “real world” setting.

Plus, as I said before, with your hair down:

      You. Look. GORGEOUS!

      • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Twirlygirly you’re FAR too kind. It was just a really quick selfie I did 🙂 I actually don’t wear a headband to show products, typically I am up in the AM and out the door to work so I don’t like having my hair all around my face while I’m at the office so what you’re seeing is basically my look for the day that I snapped in the bathroom after getting dressed, putting my makeup on, etc….I typically don’t do many shots in the evening so that’s why you aren’t seeing many hair down pics 🙂 sorry about that…I know my FOTD photos in reviews aren’t terribly helpful sometimes as I know other bloggers do close ups etc but I am just not that handy with a camera.

  • Susannah

Dear Muse, I’m with the others on your pic — I too thought it was a Bottacelli (sp?) pic you had posted for the holidays. Beautiful.

As for Dreamtone, how does it compare to L’Oreal’s Youth Code? L’Oreal owns Lancôme so I’m wondering if they are basically the same? If so, Youth Code would be much less expensive.

    • Isabella Muse

you guys are too kind thanks Susannah. You mean the Dark Spot Correctors? I never had much success with them unfortunately 🙁 I had both the moisturizer and serum but didn’t really experience much of a different in my skin tone. I actually used the serum until the end but the moisturizer I still have a good deal left over….

  • Susannah

I’m not sure it’s a dark spot corrector. I was looking at it last night in the grocery store. It’s $25 versus the $98 bucks for Dreamtone.

It’s called Youth Code, and L’Oreal launched it fairly recently.

By the way, for those who want to try Dreamtone, all the Lancôme counters at dept stores have sample packets for those who want to try. I got a handful from my lady at Nordstrom’s — enough to last a week.

    • Isabella Muse

they have a lot of youth code items, not sure which one it is. The youthcode line has a few products like a dark spot formula, a texture perfector formula which softens skin.. etc….but these aren’t new so maybe it is something for Spring I haven’t yet seen 🙂 brilliant on the samples thanks for sharing!

  • Majick

HA HA HA – SEE, everyone LOVES your hair! LOL You are such a little cherub face.
Love your hair, love your eyes, love your lips, love your blog, love your jokes, love you!
Wishing you a cool Yule and blessed Winter Solstice!

    • Isabella Muse

awww majick. gimme a big hug. thank you! thank you very much that totes made my day! Imma sniffling 🙂 hehe! Wishing you a blessed year ahead! Many thanks for your wonderful comments, interaction here on Musings, and for being so lovely 🙂 and such a loyal reader of Musings 🙂

  • telle

thats a really lovely selfie!!! your face is gorgeous! this shot reminds me of a shoot they did in america’s next top model (which cycle, i dont know) and they had to do up close of the face with as minimal make up as possible, and few could really do it! this reminds me of that and yours is a total win!!!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL only difference I am NOT an american’s next top model hehe 😀 thanks telle 🙂 it’s always a pleasure putting my fine lines, puffiness, and weirdness out there for everyone to see and getting such beautiful comments 😀

  • prettyarty

I tested it one morning and at the end of the day I already had several spots popping up :((
and really really expensive, knowing that L’Oreal released the Sublimist line (maybe you don’t have it in the US) which is quite the same thing, but at drugstore price!

  • Iris

    You look lovely! 🙂

This product sounds really good. I’m mostly alright with my skin. It does have the occasional spot and a few freckles from sun damage. This may be helpful for the latter.

    • Isabella Muse

Aw thanks Iris 🙂 <3!!!!!!!!! I have duller skin so I use to brighten up!

  • Kaja Elisabeth

I’m sooooo curious about this. But at that price, I’m just not sure. I’m always sceptical to products like this. Being somewhat of a cynic, I wonder is the effect might just be optical because of the slight tint and the hint of shimmer. I might just go there though, because of course I want perfect skin!

P.S. I love this picture of you!

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks elisabeth 🙂 <3!!!!!!!!!!!!! I liked it...! Fairly good at brightening up but no worries the shimmer isn't crazy!

  • Chaia

Hi, Muse, I know it’s totally up to you how you choose to wear your hair/do your makeup but add me to your many fans that find your natural look with hair down and little to no makeup your BEST look. Gorgeous!

    • Isabella Muse

thanks chaia! you flatter me 🙂 If I didn’t wear any makeup though I wouldn’t have much to blog about hehe!

  • Jennifer

Hey Muse, I love that photo of you! In the two years I’ve been reading your blog I’ve never seen you without makeup, and you are lovely without it. And I like the angle of the photo–we can see the whole Muse! 😀
