L’Oreal Silver Sky Infallible Eyeshadow Review & Swatches

L’Oreal Silver Sky Infallible Eyeshadow ($7.89 at Harmons drugstore) is one of six brand new L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows launching for Spring 2014 in drugstores now.

I’m a little confused whether or not these are limited edition or if they’ll become permanent. But if you recall last year we saw similar displays around this time of the year and the shades in that display became part of the permanent collection and since they didn’t technically name this collection I have a feeling that will be the case with these colors.

Let’s take a look at Silver Sky.

At a glance I thought that L’Oreal Silver Sky Infallible Eyeshadow was a dupe for L’Oreal Primped & Precious Infallible Eyeshadow which launches with the L’Oreal Diamond Collection for Holiday 2012.

But upon closer inspection Silver Sky is considerably more sparkly and a truer silver where as Primped and Precious is more gray based. The texture of Infallible Eyeshadow is considerably more packed in this color so you aren’t kicking up a bunch of chunky glitter or eyeshadow when you press a brush into it. I find finger application or using a sponge tip applicator to pack color on is more of a mess free way to apply and it’ll minimize fall out. A regular brush tends to contribute to fall out with these shadows. I don’t really endorse finger application due to bacteria but applying with a sponge applicator and blending out with your finger minimizes fall out and shimmer overload.

Silver Sky is a very bright and true silver. It almost has a liquid metal finish with a good deal of frosty sparkle on lids. If you sheer it out I think it makes it more wearable as applying too much makes it look very frosty and very sparkly which is a bit overdone in many cases. Pairing it with black makes for a very lovely smoky eye look.

The color is very full on but it’ll be understandably a shade that many will likely love you just have to use a lighter hand during application!

Look for it now at drugstores.

I do not have Silver Sky, but I purchases Purple Priority and Gilded Envy which I think are gorgeous colors! Purple Priority is a bluish-purple that is metallic, I guess and Gilded Envy is VERY shimmery and glittery! Love them!

I don’t have this color, it does look bright. I have blue eyes and they say silver is a flattering eye color for my baby blues. I own an estee lauder shadow called: cyber silver and I swear it makes my pale skin look dirty and it looks like I have dark circles and looks like I’m sick or something.

Ha! But do you think it would pigmented as a liner without too much fallout? Or maybe in the inner corner?

        • the Muse

using it wet will help thin it out and minimize the fall out! Inner corner isn’t really for me, it would be too glittery but like I said some folks can rock it so you can try of course 🙂

I love how smoothly this applies- so different than Maybelline Color Tattoo in Silver Strike
