MAC Huggable Lipcolour seems similar to products MAC has already released like Sheen Supreme Lipstick and So Supreme Lipstick however, I felt the formula was different.
These aren’t like any of the hybrid lipstick/balms we’ve been seeing lately either like Revlon Lip Butter. The formula is most comparable to CK One Color Shine Lipstick with a thicker formula that makes itself quite known on lips and a luminous shine. If you’re looking for weightless or lightweight these aren’t for you however, if you like a balm slash lipstick hybrid formula that has a slightly moisturizing texture you’ll be right at home.
At first I was disappointed because they call these an Asian inspired trend. Believe me, I know Asian makeup, and this formula isn’t anything that you can find on the Asian market and misrepresents the lightweight, super shiny subtle lipsticks that Japanese and Korean brands are well known for. Where the entire “Asian trend” comes from I haven’t a clue. MAC must be smoking the funny grass.
I was also disappointed because they were just SO heavy on my lips. After I got used to it I started feeling the love. It’s just the marketing makes it seem like you’re going in for a purchase of a shiny pigmented lightweight lipstick and when you do try it you’ll find it shocking how heavy it is. Saying it wears six hour is a stretch as well, I’d say you can get four out of these at best.

They are an incredibly pigmented lip balm producing opaque color on a single application in most cases.. They have a soft vanilla scent and flavor (the traditional MAC flavor/fragrance) with a little bit of a tug during application, there’s no easy glide here. Some of the shades to accentuate the natural lines of lips and if you have drier areas or flaky lips they will likely cling badly to those areas. They keep lips nicely hydrated through the wear.
I have my negatives and my positives with MAC Huggable Lipcolour and although this review contains more negative than positive I do urge you to try a few shades. The pigment, nice moisture, and luminous shine makes them a rather nice lipstick just don’t expect a lightweight balm here and def do not expect anything Asian related….! Hmmm!
