Maybelline Maple Kiss Color Sensational Lipstick Review & Swatches
Maybelline Maple Kiss Color Sensational Lipstick ($5.49) is one of eight new permanent shades of Color Sensational Lipstick launched with a new collection for Spring 2014 entitled the Buffs.
These are a new collection of lipstick shades that Maybelline has introduced which are a selection of nude, natural lip colors done in a color scheme of browns, caramels, and softer, natural nude flesh tones to flatter a range of different skin tones.
Color Sensational Lipstick is a great collection due to the sheer volume of shades there are to choose from however, I’ve always felt medicore about the actual formula! I wish it had more shine a bit more glossiness and a more comfortable wear to it. However, needless to say it does pack great pigment and comes with a great value of a price tag.
Let’s take a look at Maybelline Maple Kiss Color Sensational Lipstick!
I located and purchased Maybelline Maple Kiss Color Sensational Lipstick at Harmons drugstore.
This comes in the standard swivel up Color Sensational square case but features a nude translucent top. The formula doesn’t have the strong scent and flavor that the Color Sensational Collection typically sports. It smells (and tastes) a bit more subtle this go around. As typically I get a strong play-doh/floral flavor/scent from this line of lipsticks but the Buffs are apparently a little more subtle in this department.
Maple Kiss has a nice easy glide and applies without tugging on my drier lips. Color is smooth and rich looking with excellent color coverage that’s fully opaque on a single application. This has a satin finish with a softer sheen and a hint of shine. It wears comfortable however, it isn’t terribly hydrating or moisturizing on my lips. The thing I’ve always disliked about the Color Sensational Lipstick formula is the fact that it really makes itself known on lips, it isn’t exactly lightweight!
Maple Kiss is an accurate name for the shade as it reminds me of newly fallen leaves. The shade is a strong sienna and not so much nude on my pigmented lips but still pretty none the less.
I embrace shades like this in my collection so it was a perfect addition to my more natural shades of lipsticks. It isn’t MLBB (my lips but better) nor is it a true nude but the neutral-ness of the shade does lend a nice naturalness to my lip look.
The shade is a keeper for me! I liked it very much! I wish it was a hint more lighter on my lips but the wear is a solid four hours and the pigment is excellent on a whole and hey, love that under six dollar price tag too!
If you like shades of sienna, this is a go!
