Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel Review
Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel ($43) is a one step acid peel that resurfaces skin while softening the appearance of fine lines, refining pores, and creating a more brighter, even skin tone.
I’ve been testing this for about three weeks now and I must say I do like it but I also have some dislikes about it.
Take a look!
Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel comes in a 1.7 oz jar with a coarse brush for application. Apparently the formula is a professional grade and includes a 20% AHA complex made up of lactic, glycolic, and multifruit acids. This complex acts to dissolve dead skin cells and resurface skin for a smoother finish. You can use it up to three times a week but I started out once a week and proceeded to start using it twice a week. My skin is dry at the moment with patchy drier areas around my cheeks. I do not have visible pores nor do I have excess oil on my forehead or t-zone (except in the Summer). At my first application there was a slight tingle but nothing I couldn’t handle for ten minutes. At first I disliked the scent of the product because it was more of a grandmotherly type fragrance versus a lemon one (I dunno why I expected it to smell like lemons shrug!) but I got used to it slowly.
The formula is a gel-like consistency that’s slightly tacky once applied. It comes with a rather coarse, less than soft brush for applying the treatment (the brush itself exfoliates your skin during the application or so it feels like). You simply apply a teaspoon amount evenly across your skin and leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing it away with water.
I find it difficult to rinse away so I use a wash cloth to wipe any excess away and follow up by splashing my face with lukewarm water. My skin feels slightly tight after use but not red or brighter. After 24 hour period my skin actually flaked up and had drier patchy areas that were very visible. Granted I have drier areas but typically I can exfoliate them away or they aren’t glaringly obvious if they do pop up. Unfortunately they were really visible after using the peel. I could literally peel away the dead skin…it was interesting? To say the least. After I used it a second time I didn’t experience the issue again however, I did notice it ate away at my drier, flakier areas and really created a smoother surface on my skin. I didn’t experience any brightening effects but the peeling action was excellent because my skin was softer and smoother especially when used in conjunction with a daily moisturizer.
I can’t say if the peel helps with fine lines or wrinkles as I have none as of yet on my skin however, for drier skin it did work very well even better than a facial scrub would. I wish it had revealed brighter skin but I’ll settle for smoother, softer skin!
If you need a strong over the counter exfoliating peel for your drier Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel is a rather good option to deflake and get skin soft again!
