Sephora VIB Reward Card 2013

Sephora VIB Reward Cards for use December 4-16, 2013 are popping up! I got mine earlier last week and I imagine many of you already have as well.

The card entitles you to $20 off a $50 purchase which can be redeemed any day starting December 4th up until December 16th. You can use the card at Sephora stores, Sephora.com, and Sephora within JCPenny.

BI Members will get $15 off $50. I am a Rouge member but I got the VIB card.

Good Luck!

Hope you get your card shortly!

I’m a beauty insider and just got a $15 off of $50 card in the mail along with a separate envelope with fragrance sample sheets! 🙂

  • Vanilla

Wish they would give Rouge members a lil extra something. I too am at Rouge status now after the VIB sale a couple of weeks ago and was surprised they didn’t give some special promo or extra goodies in the welcome package. Oh well! The free shipping to Canada without spending $75 is soooooooo good. I’m going to abuse it and take all their samples.

    • the Muse

I thought for sure reward cards would be diff for Rouge guess not but hey $20 is damn generous 🙂

    • Katia

FYI, I tried using my card last night (12/1) and was able to get the discount. I was also able to use it for a purchase that was less than $50. This may be only a Rouge perk, but it’s worth trying now!!

Also, since this is essentially a cash discount (you put the barcode & PIN in where the payment type goes), you can use a promo code on top of the discount!

  • Rina

Not sure why they have been leaving the BI’s out, I just ended up spending a ton of cash at Beauty.com and Ulta instead with their deals…. I think they are really missing out on some sales.

      • Gabby

$15 off $50 for BIs is nice…but the pretty poor deals overall through the year (plus how Rouge doesn’t seem to get anything special) doesn’t really give me much incentive to increase my spending at Sephora.

I think if Make Up For Ever became available at Ulta I probably would very rarely shop at Sephora. Especially since most of the prestige brands I prefer are available at Ulta (and the rest I get via Nordstrom) – and with bonus points I always get really great discounts.

Case in point I bought the UD Ocho Loco 2 set from Ulta.com today for $9 after using points and since Ulta sends 5X bonus point offers pretty regularly (including today), I have a bunch more to spend still.

  • Princess

Do you know, by any chance, if they email the codes too?? I’m a VIB but I’m out of the country and wont be back till the 17th (how convenient) and I def want to use it too!!!

      • Princess

LOL I’m enjoying how you just called me Princess. Sweet. And thank you!!

      • Princess

Also, just saw your last year’s post saying you were emailed the card too. So i’m sure they’ll do it again!

        • the Muse

yeah but I never rely on things that happened last year…don’t want to give you the wrong info for this year….if and when I do get the email will update the post but don’t want to include that info here because if they aren’t emailing here a lot of people will get upset and start commenting that I provided the wrong info etc. I know that this card was mailed to me so that’s the info I provided. If I get one via email too I’ll def be sure to update the post but won’t do so until I officially know and see an email from Sephora with the card. It keeps people from becoming unhappy or disappointed if they don’t end up doing the email.

          • Tiffany

I’ve received an email for VIB reward card with the gift card number and a pin. However, when i tried to use it, it said that the value of the card is $0. :((

    • Michou

      Princess –

Last year my code was lost in the mail and I was able to use my email address to call Sephora and they were able to tell it to me via email.

      Hope that helps!

      Michou

    • Missjuju

I thought I wasn’t getting mine, because it never came in mail but I just got mine in my email just two days ago!:)

  • cat

Whaaaat? Oh, you know I’m lifting the spending ban. But really, did they have to wait until I couldn’t use that lovely 10% back from Ebates? 😉

  • jess

    Hey Muse,

Is this for Canadian vib members too?!!! I’m rogue but haven’t gotten anything in the mail!! I really want this discount! 🙁

    • the Muse

I’m not sure Jess, I hope so but don’t have any details about Canadian rewards yet. I emailed Sephora last week, awaiting a reply.

  • Cindy

I saw on Sephora’s FB page that they will email those “gift cards” (which are really coupons). For years Sephora has screwed up both my snail mail and e-mail from them, I get e-mail maybe 3-4 times a year and never get anything in the mail. They’ve said over and over that they’ve “refreshed” the subscription which does nothing. They did say if I don’t get the e-mail with the gift card code (ensuring that you can’t use it with an ACTUAL gift card online) then I can contact them and they will give it to me, which is something, I guess. But I have to go through this every year with them, ugh.

Long story short, if you don’t get your codes either by snail mail or e-mail ladies, contact them and they should be able to give it to you.

    • Lori

I just contacted them because my email got “unsubscribed” with them and snail mail is so spotty where I’m at. I’m hoping to get the email because I’m waiting to get the Smashbox Master Class II palette and having $20 off would be sweet.

  • Jane

Ooooo I wish I had gotten this before I went Cyber Monday crazy… it’ll probably come in the mail tomorrow *sigh*

  • Nat

I recently got Rouge status…took a moment for it to sink in that I had spent that much money at Sephora lolz

  • Jessica

    Hey,
Is there any way that you could make a post that states all the Sephora VIB/BI deals that happen during the year? 😀 I know that it won’t be exact and may not occur every year, but it would be very helpful!
I just made VIB a few months ago so I just want to practise smart shopping in order to maximize my savings!

    • the Muse

there aren’t any vib/bi deals through the year aside from this and the 20% Off VIB Event.

      • the Muse

oh there’s also 10% or so off of clearance on boxing day but aside from that Sephora doesn’t have discounts or coupons for VIB members unfortunately.

  • Alexandra

How do we get our coupon? I havent gotten anything yet.. do I go in stores or will they be sending it through email? Will be saving this for the Naked 3 palette!!

I thought for sure they would give a little something extra to VIB Rouge members!! They don’t seem to be giving Rouge members any sort of extra perks at all except the free shipping to canada with any order. They say you’re supposed to get invited to special events, get exclusive Rouge gifts, I don’t know if it’s just me but I’ve received none of that special treatment us Rouges are supposed to get. I’m seriously considering dropping back down to VIB. The free shipping is nice, but usually when I shop online I haul a ton of online only things from them (now that we have a Sephora in my city, it opened 2 years ago). And when I shop in stores I expect that as a VIB Rouge member they can at least throw in a few samples but sometimes I get a bitchy cashier that gives me zero zilch and at a different store they literally gave my mom 10+ samples.

So I’ll end that rant off with: Can Canadians use the code to purchase things online? I remember that in the past you could only redeem it at a store. And how do you sign up for snail mail? I want to get things in the mail from them!

    • meganlisa

I’ve gotten a few invitations to events. A make-over party with food and champagne ($10 to spend), 2 skin care/spa invites with gift bags of full size products. But I live in Los Angeles…a bigger market…with the two skin care companies having local “spas”. I attended neither (traffic…not worth the time for the payoff…yes, I’m lazy but also already have enough product hence the rouge status). And I complained once …and got a box of samples for it….mostly when I complain I get blown off.
But I did get something for rouge status. Hope that helps….someone…

    • Lisa

The biggest rouge perk is that you can get free 45 min makeovers and 90 min beauty consultations anytime with no minimum purchase (otherwise there is a $50 min purchase for makeup application and $125 for beauty consultation)

  • Slysilverfoxy

I was a VIB rouge until a couple of days ago when Sephora banned me for ordering too much. I have been ordering a lot since I became rouge a few months back and saving it up for Christmas presents. It has been happening to a lot of other people, also. It seems that being just BI or VIB is preferable to Rouge if you want to be able to shop. I hope this post is allowed because people should know to be careful so they don’t get banned too.

    • the Muse

i doubt they intentionally banned you from a purchases…it’s def some sort of glitch with their system I suspect.

      • Slysilverfoxy

No, it’s intentional. It’s happening to a lot of customers. Google Sephora Banned and see the stories that come up.

  • Michelle

For some reason I cannot use my coupon online. It doesnt’t give a code just barcode and pin information. Muse, do you know how to make this work? You’d think a VIB Rouge would not be a novice but, I am missing something LOL

    • the Muse

believe you check out with a gift card option michelle use it as a gift card and it’ll deduct at checkout as I recall 😀

  • girly

Just got my $20 off minimum $50 in my email!! (Canadian). I was expecting this on Sunday based on when they were sent out the last 2 years!

    • the Muse

w000000000000t! Canadians were wondering and I had absolutely no deets thanks for confirming girl!

  • Michou

Got mine over the weekend and used it straightaway this morning, haha! I hauled Shiseido Tender Sheer (in Hibiscus, it’s a HG lipstick for me), Buxom Lipstick in Rogue and Becca Ultimate Color Gloss in Hotel California. Can’t wait to wear them on my trip to France!

    • Rena

They send them out in waves so you might still get one! Sometimes you can call and get one as well if nothing else.

  • Sasha

Can anyone explain (or speculate) how returns work when you’ve used the $15 or $20 promo giftcard? For example what happens if you purchase a $35 dollar item and a $15 dollar item in store (you’d only pay $35 after the giftcard) then later you want to return the $15 dollar item? Would they take the $15 dollar item without refunding you anything because effectively you received the $15 dollar item for free? The last question on this link seems to indicate that that would be the case but that seems kind of mean to me…

    http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Insider/2013-Beauty-Insider-Holiday-Reward-Card-FAQs/m-p/869517/highlight/true#M10562

Promise I’m not trying to cheat the system, just wondering just in case…

    • the Muse

They aren’t going to refund you in cash for an item you essential got for free they might let you purchase another item for $15 maybe?! but it’s hard to say maybe contact Sephora directly to ask.

    • Lisa

If you return the item with receipt, you will get the refund for the price you paid, or exchange for the price you paid. If you return without receipt, you get a store credit for the price of the item. So, basically, you can return without the receipt and you will be able to essentially buy a new item with the same promotion, so if you’re concerned, I would just return without the receipt.

  • Elaine

I’m a Canadian customer and received an email promo for $15 off min. $50 purchase, but I just recently became VIB, so was I supposed to have received the promo for $20 off?? Or is that just for US customers? I’m confused :S

    • Jane

The fine print on my VIB discount card said that you had to qualify for VIB before a Nov. 29th, so that may be where the problem lies.

  • Kat

I was also a vib rouge and I have been banned from shopping online. I live in US and I was told I was banned for placing too many orders. I admit I did get a little carried away with my holdiay shopping and I only shopped exclusively with online sephora for all my beauty needs. I’m so upset. I practically begged them to allow me to shop with them again, but they said I can only shop in store. Why would I bother shopping in their stores which are far from me and when they accuse me of fraud. I never bragged about my orders, I admit I placed a lot of orders during the holiday and broke up my orders because I have free shipping, but that’s what I thought it was for. And I honestly didn’t know I was breaking their rules.

In regards to the promotions, they still send me emails. Only I can’t be a part of it.

I even told them it will not happen again, I will slow down on my orders and place only a few orders here and there. I wish they would reinstate my account. I wouldn’t even mind at all if they monitored my account because I have nothing to hide. I’m so upset. They only need to look at me last years order history in which I only spent $500 the entire year. This year I spent closer to $1500 all because I was vib rouge and used the free shipping perk. If I went overboard I would like to change that for next year… That’s if they give me a chance :((

    • Slysilverfoxy

Kat: I was upset too until I quickly found out I can get better deals shopping directly with the companies that Sephora sells. I have no intention of shopping with Sephora online or in-store ever again. If they don’t want my money I’m certainly not going to beg them to take it. It’s disgusting that they came out with this VIB Rouge with claims that there would be all kinds of perks when it clearly was just some kind of entrapment to get customers to buy a lot only to ban them.

    • Dani

Kat, that is absurd. Wouldn’t they want everyone to place a lot of orders? That doesn’t make any sense at all. This issue arose for me a few years ago and I called and expressed my extreme displeasure (to say the least); and when I finally spoke to a supervisor, she said whoever told me that I would be banned from online purchases was incorrect. It is not their policy to do that. You should definitely call & discuss this with a manager, etc.

I’m confident that you will be able to continue to make online purchases. Good Luck!

      • Izzy

This ban is happening to a lot of people. I read a lot of messages about it on the sephora beauty insider forums. they all called sephora and were all turned away.

  • Lisa

FYI, VIB Rouge customers receive a free compact mirror when redeeming the gift card–at least in store.

  • Dani

I, too, am frustrated by the lack of anything special for VIB Rouge members. What is that about? The only perk I’ve seen is the free shipping. Really disappointing. Hope Sephora rectifies this soon. I am definitely going to contact them regarding this issue.

  • cat

I’ve been waiting for a perfume I really want to come in the little advent calender style thing they’ve got going on Sephora for the 100 point rewards and sadly two of the items in my cart are now out of stock. I’m torn between getting the Deborah Lippmann Wicked polish collection and then finding something else worth $30 to throw in my cart or just letting this be my excuse to get the Naked 2 palette because it’s probably never going to be cheaper than $20 off (therefore $32). What do you think, Muse?

  • Nicole

I am waiting for my card this year! I want Naked on the Run! Last year I used mine for Naked 3. 😀
